Hiya, I've got a wheel incoming and want to swap out my OEM, shiny and altogether tatty one. I've drawn up a list of what I think I need to do the job so that the wheel fits in the same place as the factory wheel (or nearer if possible) and no airbag lights are triggered. Airbag cheater http://www.demon-twe...g-canceller-kit Wheel fitting kit https://www.vx220par...-wheel-adaptor/ Wheel removal tool https://www.vx220par...el-puller-tool/ Is there anything I'm missing or something I've not considered? The adapter is 5cm which looks roughly right though it's very hard to measure accurately. Cheers.

If you're moving the wheel closer to your chest, wouldn't you be better off with a removable boss kit?

Possibly, and could add one later, but the wheel isn't cheap so I figured I'll get it fitted first and can always swap it out if I'm struggling to get in and out of the car. They are upwards of 200 for the removable kits.

Think the smart money goes on the B&G removable kit at circa £100 and not the Elise Parts version. http://www.b-gdirect...ase-system.html Loads of spacer options as well: http://www.b-gdirect...spacers/page/1/

That looks great thanks, especially the spacers. Do you know if it can be locked? If I leave the car with the roof off and don't want to carry the wheel around what stops someone reaching in and pinching it? So I'm clear though, if I get either the removable or eliseparts kit and the airbag cheater is that all I need?

Would this enable you to fit one of the Lotus style ones on EP, always quite fancied one of them

You will also need to sort the horn switch out so a few bits of wire and connectors could be needed

Great stuff, the horn is on the wheel I assume it's a case of plugging in but will see when it's all apart.

You might just need to tidy up the wires as the Vx has 2 horn buttons

That was another advantage of the fixed wheel, the spacer is enough to hide the cables. Ill order the bits when I've had chance to see the wheel and work out if I need to bring it forward and by how much. Will put pics up when I get it. Its pretty bling.

If you order the elise parts kit, you do not need the steering wheel puller, as the original wheel is only held on by 4 allen head bolts. The 'boss' that is left is mounted to the steering column splined end. The removable boss is attached by 4 new longer bolts into this boss. I know this as i fitted one a while ago. Wish i'd bought the extension as it's a tight squeeze for all the leftover wiring within the EP boss.

Which ep kit do you mean, the removable one or the fixed one? The fixed looks like it's got a 5cm spacer to squash the cables in.

I've got the removable kit. The one you've linked in your original post looks like there's a lot more room.

Another dumb question, but for the horn I'm planning on getting this http://www.demon-twe...parco-horn-push Does the horn need any earthing plate etc? The wheel is a carbon reverie so no metal to ground to just the connecting wires...

I moved mine to the cowl. I replaced the odometer reset button to match the horn one. Also the resistor was pence from maplin to trick the airbag light. Then just reset it with opcom.

Hi guys bit of an update and another dumb question. I've got the wheel, spacer, horn and airbag cheater. Problem I have is the horn doesn't fit the wheel. The backing gubbins will fit inside the hole just fine, but there are 4 teeth which arefouling it. The horn is a Sparco which I read is the same fitment as the momo fitment on the wheel? I could just cut the teeth away but wanted to make sure I'm not doing sometching dumb in terms of fitting? The pics of the wheel online dont have any horn surrounds etc so I assumed it would just click into place. Thanks, Pete.

Mine was the same, tried trimming to get it to fit but was never 100%, finally after 3 years I got the retaining ring, which clamps over the top of horn button via the 6 screws.

Just to round this off I fitted the wheel last night.

Everything worked great until..... The resistor for the airbag briefly got disconnected so the light is now on. My orange obd tool wouldn't reset it, anyone know if the Dutch software will do it? Or do I need to visit a dealer with Tech2?

Wheel feels great, tiny bit smaller but same thickness. Trimmed the horn plastic down just enough to squeeze in.

Not really bothered about the weight saving more about the look and feel, but it's a featherweight. Almost feels TOO light when in your hand.

Thanks for the help.

315 I think. It's about half the thickness of the OEM rim smaller.
