Looking for a set of tyres for my sc vx at reasonable price the two I've found reasonably priced are Toyo proxes Federal rsr Which one of the two are best in your opinions I will do the occasionally track but having never driving on track I won't be that quick hence I don't see the need to buy yokohamas or 888s at the mo

RSRs or proxies are good option Just my opinion but RSRs are probably more of dry weather where the proxies are a good all rounder but not quite as good in the dry

Thanks for the response mate from what I can tell the rsr are more semi slick style/dry tyre but hopefully I not have to use the vx much in wet o think I'm edging more towards the rsr's

Proxes what? There's a whole world of difference in the "Proxes" range.

I have just taken off 4 Toyo T1R's and fitted R888's to my 16/17 TD's. My intention is to do mainly trackdays this summer. The T1R's have done around 1000 or 1500 miles and in nearly new condition. They have had no punctures or been damaged in any way. £100 for the 4 collected from SY12 postcode North Shropshire. If you are interested drop me a PM.  I can send some photos if that helps.

I've always used RSRs and never had a single issue, excellent dry grip and amazing value for money too!

I have standard road tyres, Hankook ventus primes I think. I need to experiment with pressures as they go off after a few laps on track, and don't have much grip. However they are fine in the wet and are hard wearing.

When I say "not much grip", it's all relative of course!

Who would have thought that!

For a mix of road/track all year round I would go: Toyo r1r Yoko ad08r I had t1r's on my car when I got it and they were wretched.

Iv got the RSR's on my Compomotive's, and have to say im really impressed. Iv got a stage2 SC, and went out on a soaking track yesterday, and though i took it easy, was really impressed by the feel and grip they gave. If you only intend to use the car on dry days, id probably go for the RSR's, but how about the Avon ZZS? They are on the Caterham mid range cars, though the high end ones use the ZZR's. Just seen an artice in this months Evo, saying that there are changes happening with tyre ratings that will affect road legal track tyres, and that some will change, and others will cease to exist because of it.

My rsr tyres split after one morning on track. All 4 wen width ways. Federal refunded me on them. I personally would t touch them again after that. It's fairly common for it to happen.

Agreed, I had them on TD 16/17 combo and in my experience, feeling is quite worse than original Bridgestones (including skinny front).

Personally really impressed with the grip they give on and in all conditions, especially given their tread pattern

Same in the wet too. Doubly so when cold and wet :)
