Iv got the RSR's, and find them alright. As long as you dont take liberties, iv found them fine, and wouldnt hesitate to suggest them to anyone that only drove their car during the warmer times.

I had the same long review process looking at reasonably priced tyres with a good back ground. I was put off toyo and didn't want a full track/dry weather tyre so I ended trying yokohama advan sport v105. So far with the upgrade in width, at the front to 195, really great. The yokohama never seem to feel unsettled and always hang on in all conditions I've had them out in. Got them at a good price too from black circles.

Anyone got any opinions on 195 vs 205 section fronts? The A048s etc are generally 195 (which the racers use?), AD08s are 205. Is 205 too wide?

I love the feedback on the rsr and they are most progressive tyre going sideways giving confidence. I drive them winter rain shine, wear is very good and they last on track for long sessions. 205/45/16

The RSR is hard to beat for value vs grip on track. I'm on my second set. Very grippy in the dry, they don't fall off a cliff at the end of long sessions but I find them absolutely awful in the wet. Would like to try ZZRs but can't justify double the price.

RSR handle deep standing water better than Toyo r888 , about same as the R1R I would say there is a setup problem if you have cold tyres.

Standing water isn't the problem, rather a terrible grip, and a complete lack of feedback and communication when driving on track in cold, wet conditions. I run 340R track ego with quite a lot of neg camber which won't help. The change as a track dries out is astonishing. I can go from being lapped by golfs to being the fastest thing out there in one half hour session.

I do not disagree there is a remarkable difference between a road tyre and a semi-slick in terms of when they give grip in certain conditions and when they switch on. My point is that something bad in your setup is masked by dry conditions , but can be seen in the wet.

The last time I had it on track was Hethel last year and it performed brilliantly in the dry, it felt perfectly balanced and turn in was incredible. Kept up with V6 Exige and got away from Steve.i.am in the bends who has similar SC set up but different tyres. You at Spa in June?

Hope it was just my car, because others run that front size, but I had massive ice mode issues with the 205/45 fronts.

Andy tried all sorts of checks to see if something was wrong, but eventually I borrowed a different sized front set from Luca and the problem cured itself instantly.

Maybe says more about my moronic driving than the tyres then lol.
