Seller does a honest advert. Dealer buys it and hides all the bad bits and expects 4K for his efforts for running it through a car wash. A dealer called me and offered what I wanted for my RS. I rejected it and want a private sale. I won't deal with these back street traders.

Please could you tell me what next weeks lottery numbers are going to be? PM preferred. Can I make the next prediction please. Some poor, unsuspecting person will buy this car based on half truths from the dealer. They'll appear in the new members section to introduce themselves and their shiny new dolphin, only to be directed to this thread that seriously damages its resale value and selling potential. Hope I'm wrong on this one but I guess time will tell.

Is it just me or am I the only one that thinks that there's no issue? Unless I'm missing something the dealer has listed it, simply, and has even said that it's 'awaiting preparation' meaning that some of the damage listed by the OP's might be addressed. The dealer just wants to make some money, and you can't begrudge anyone that. Sometimes we're too quick to jump on non-forum sellers and we're at risk of appearing like this place is a cult and any outsiders are to be feared.

I agree, dealer is a chancer but whoever bought this car was going to do well out of it. If they sell it on without addressing the faults then yes they're cunts, but we don't know that yet. Anyway, I'm slightly suspicious about this whole thing...I pm'd the seller the morning the ad was placed and haven't heard anything from him at all...

I probably was jumping to conclusions to be fair now I've slept on it. I do think it sold too cheap initially but think a £5k price hike is pretty cheeky considering they've not really done anything to increase its value. I just know how I'd feel if I bought the car without knowing the full story and discovered this afterwards.

Its irrelevant what the dealer makes / doesn't make, that's how car dealers make money - selling for more than they paid.

 

Who ever looks to buy it should make their own assessment of condition, mileage, relative prices etc. and offer accordingly.

 

The omission of noted faults is typical car dealer stuff though, and to be expected (why I never buy from them).
