Hi Guys

I have viewed a nice Vx220 today just about to commit to the purchase. its a car C front clam damage only no crash box with photographic evidence. its really clean 65k miles on FSH 12 months mot

any advice on things i may have missed or price ??

noticed soft top did not meet rear clam in the middle (shrank ??)

blowers didn't blow on windows could hear blowers but nothing through dash vents

bonnet cable snapped of just hanging

rest of the car was really nice drove well

noticed a lot of brown sealer bonding sealer around both chassis legs and inside the car up next to pedals  and passenger side etc looks factory is this correct.

chassis number clearly visible on chassis leg.

Best Regards

Simon

Sealant is red only. Other colours would not be factory.

Was the heater set to blow out of the footwell or dash vents? If you had set to dash vents, it's likely the cable has detached under the dash.

Tried the blower on all settings floor and de-mist nothing came through the vents or floor, guy has promised to fix it. I have posted a picture of the sealant on chassis leg.

thanks for the reply

I wouldn't worry about the heater/blower. They never work unless you've got a Fezz heater. At that age mileage you'll want the cam chains changing unless its been done already? Other than that welcome to the yellow club!

Does anyone know a ruff idea of the cost of changing the timing chains ??? what mileage are they due ?? and at what age ?

Vocky on here does them, did mine and did top job. Off memory circa £400-450 all in parts and labour. All VXs need them by now if not done. I think its 5 years or 60k miles there or thereabouts

imo its a myth about cam chains....there are two schools of thought..those that do those that dont...I had one with 130k and never changed , never any noise to change and she is still very much in the road..afaik..

but if Im right..sometimes Its been known that I am not..it was originally blue ..with the build number you gave us

sorry harry but thats rubbish, having see how worn the guides etc get on MANY engines of all different milages its really stupid imo to not have chains done, especially with the age of the plastic type parts installed

you cant just rely on the death rattle, then if it goes you need a new engine fitted and good second hand engines are VERY hard to get these days.

Where did you find out the car was originally blue ?

I guess from the database of build numbers in the sticky section of the general discussion forum. (build number being last 6 digits of the VIN you posted If it is accurate 4774 shows Europa Blue, previous .org owner "dorche" However, as I say, if it is accurate since looking at the profile of "dorche" the build number is a little jumbled Attached File  image.jpg   174.39KB   9 downloads

Hmm Strange the car is obviously lightning yellow which it states on V5 and HPI no mention of colour change on either docs and vin on chassis matches V5 document
