Hello,

 

I am new on here, new to my VX, and pretty much new to forum based discussions like this.

 

I am looing at retrimming my VX Turbo, does anyone have any experience of the J-F-Customs stuff on EBay?

Believe my door cards have been done with some. Quality is ok... finish depends on how well it's glued on to the substrate which in the previous owner's case, wasn't very well!

I will be doing it myself so I will take plenty of time of prep and adhesives etc, might just be better to get it trimmed elsewhere.  Was mainly thinking for the inner cills, rather than having to cover the car in Carbon.

I used them for my inner sills, they look good. I put some padding (used a camping mat) and it's a lot nicer to be leaning your knee on for long drives. The leather quality is good and stitching is tidy. 

 

I'm in the process of covering all of my dash etc but it's just taking forever to find the time.

That's good to know, I was thinking about the dash as well, but thought I would start small!

 

Please let me know how you do, I take it you are going to remove the dash to do it?

Did you wrap them over the existing plastic jobber, or bond them straight to the car with the padding?

Over the existing plastic, I used double sided carpet tape rather than glue. Can always remove them if I wanted to that way

Here are mine, another plus is the car has a lovely leather smell every time you open the door.

I would think more so. Lots of edges to get right and smooth. Do the vents/starter button need cut out of the leather by you? They could be tricky. What will you do with the dash top vin plate? Probably just remove it completely?

Good luck, and post pics up when done - they do look mega.

i used Wickes spray carpet adhesive, bit messy but sticks very well. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

I could do with doing my sills, have a couple of the parts already done and some still need doing. Carpet spray works well, just spray and lay then pull back and let some air in to speed up the tackiness then just lay and rub. Spring clamps will help keep leather in place while adhesive sets.

 

 

Think i might add some padding to the sills if their is room before i lay the leather. Thanks for that tip Pezley!

I got the centre console cover and cup holder cover, quality is good but a bit on the expensive side.

 

I used PVA Glue to stick all mine on with. 

 

If you were thinking of sills then I would go carbon as I would hate the thought of leather tearing.
