There is a forth option, which is do nothing and enjoy it as it is.... On a recent blast with a mixture of Elise's I noticed there was very little difference between my NA, a 118hp s1 and a 190hp s2 in the real world...

I think the answer lies within the concept of the word "Lard"   :ban:

I think there is definitely a car for this too. I did my engine last after doing my brakes, suspension, spitfire links, steering rack etc and the car felt great.

I wouldn't go back to NA though ;)

I suppose there's always the VX220 Turbo, cheaper than modding an NA if you consider resale.

Ok - so here's where I am at.... If money were I object it would be ITBs, tuning and new gear box. But that is gonna be too expensive, and with alpha no longer offering the ecu it makes it more difficult. Tuning in its own also looks a bit tricky to get meaningful gains from modest investment. So, if I don't take option 4 (do nothing and enjoy it...) then sc seems the way forward. Tempted to stick to stage 1 at the moment, as I like having to work the car hard to get the best out of it - but taking Peter up on his offer will help me see what stage 2 is like. Other advantage of sc, is if done diy most of the investment seems to come back when the car is sold. Not a major deciding factor, but good to know.... As for the switch to turbo.... I've already spent a lot of time sorting out the suspension and brakes (full refresh, nitron street series and corner weighting) plus redone all the interior so don't want to lose that. Plus, whilst power on the turbo is at the level I'm aiming for, I've heard mixed things about its power delivery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You will love the new power the first few weeks.

After a month or so, you will be getting used to it.

After 3 months you will think it's broken, as it's not fast enough.

Funny that tuning stuff.
