Hi All,

I'm from South Wales and have recently purchased a silver 51 plate VX220 2.2 N/A. I've only driven the car once from Portsmouth to S.Wales (mainly motorway unfortunately) but am really impressed by the overall driving experience.

My previous car that I sold a few weeks ago was a Lotus 7 replica with a Honda S2000 engine, it weighed 580 kg and had 230 odd bhp. Obviously a very fast car and in a different league of in terms of straight line performance, but I prefer the way the VX drives and the added bonus that it has a roof and windscreen :-).

A couple of problems that I have noticed so far ; a knocking/creaking noise from the rear that isn't related to road speed or suspension travel/movement - will have to investigate. The near side inner CV boot has gone -  haven't checked the drivers side one yet.

Winter plans - Give the engine a good service including timing gear and waterpump. Check all suspension, wishbone bushes, rod ends and ball joints for serviceability. Change all brake pads as they are on the low side.

Future plans - the odd track day, meets if there are any ? weekend ride outs and maybe a supercharger !

Cheers

Hi, I live just outside Blackwood. And if you don't know Blackwood it's about 20 mins from Newport in the valleys.

Why the deep pockets reference ? Are you referring to the supercharger ? 🤑

They tend to suffer on the cars as they get older, particularly the toe link bolts. Most of us have replaced or upgraded them.

Hi Bladerunner, Plenty of threads over this issue. It's essential maintenance. Some have learned the hard way. Kind regards, Jon

Hi, I was looking for a thread showing the specific parts that require changing I'm not to hot on the terminology yet. However that crash is an eye opener.
