Morning all. Looking at hotels and crossing for this, anyone booked already or can make recommendations? If there are fellow VXers staying ill look to book into the same spot. Also will be looking for a mid there and back. Cheers.

Need to be sorting this out too. What's your plan? Staying near the track on Monday? Have you checked the LoT hotel recommendations?

No not checked yet, but roughly speaking: Leave Swansea on the Sunday 28th, stay midway (anywhere suitable to break the journey like Folkestone, brugge, Antwerp, Eindhoven etc). Stay Monday and Tuesday night close by to the track. Wednesday night again somewhere part way.

Nice one, but if the hotel is sh*t don't blame me - blame Trivago! ;) From your post your crossing on the Sunday morning, are you staying anywhere on the Saturday night? We were originally planning to cross on Saturday and stop in Bruges or Brussels to break the journey (the route to bberg looks nice and twisty so more time to enjoy) but if it helps the convoy we could stay in Folkestone and get the same train over.

Current plan is to stay close to the tunnel in folkestone on sat night.

Foxy and I will be travelling down from the midlands mid afternoon.

For the first part of the journey I am thinking :

945 leave Calais ->

skirt Antwerp ->

~1300 stop at Kasteel Heeswijk for 1hr lunch/stretch ->

Nijmegen ->

1530 Arnhem

The remainder of the journey is around 2h30 by direct route.

There is also the Exernsteine not far from the hotel worth a look.

When you say the route to BB looks twisty, which roads/route are you specifically talking about ? There is no streetview for any of Germany so its hard to see what would be a more scenic route and what wouldn't.

Why not take a late Sat tunnel crossing and gain the extra hour the following morning by staying in Coquelles. We usually use this place which is ok, safe with good parking and cheap(ish) http://www.booking.com/Share-c4DInH There also the Ibis Budget Hotel which is around £45/night

I'm heading from Swansea so will leave late morning I'm guessing. How about the Premier Inn Folkestone? No specifics in terms of twisties but the hotel is in the Teutoburg forest, and there's the Hohe Mark, Arnsberger Wald and Dummer nature parks.

Ok lets keep it simple as we need to meet Sean at the tunnel terminal, and he doesn't need a hotel.

Have booked in (via booking.com) at the Premier Inn Ashford - Eureka Park.

Mild panic began to take hold when I saw there was no availability at all in Folkestone!!
