Hi gentlemen (and maybe a few ladies?),

I am trying to diagnose my ABS light and purchased an OPCOM for this purpose.

I bought this one from ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.u...wEAAOSwhOBXT~l~

I have tried installing it as per (poor) instructions with the CD that came with it on one laptop runing windows 7 32 bit and one laptop running windows 7 64 bit.

On neither one it works.

I get an error message saying "interface connection error"

Then I contacted the seller who sent me a link for downloading another version, which contained two versions and this lovely text:

Please must read this document.
1. When you use the OP-COM ago ,It firmware Revision is 1.33, If you don't need upgrade this produce,
Please must click "Before the firmware upgrade using" folder and read "OP-COM 081016 user manual".
2. If you need upgrade this produce, please click "After the firmware upgrade using" folder and read
"upgrade using manual"
ATTENTION: If you upgrade this produce, It will not use software of "Before the firmware upgrade
using" folder.
All above means the software version.
Note: v1.64 means the hardware version, which is not a same thing with software.

I tried both variants as well with no luck.

Anyone have a clue on what to do? Or should I try to install windows XP on one of the laptops instead?

Also, in the settings menu there is a "test interface" function, is the OPCOM supposed to be connected to the car when you run this or just to the PC? The information in the read me files does not say anything that the device should be connected to the car. And when I run the test it says interface error as well.

Or just get another OPCOM from a different vendor?

Very frustrated as the garage I have the car in is a 30 minute drive one way, so going out there to test and realize it doesn't work sucks.

On the 64 bit Windows 7, windows ran an update the other day, and then every time I plug in the OPCOM USB I get the blue screen of death.....Re-installed it a few times and now it seems to not crash immediately at least, but I am sure that will pass as soon as I try to hook it up to the car....

Have you actually got the OPCOM program to open and run? If not, I had some issues on Windows 10 that I sorted using the method I described here: http://www.vx220.org...-win-10-driver/

Yes the program opens and runs just fine. The drivers are manually installed disabling auto driver and signed drivers. It is the connection to the opcom interface and car that doesn't play along. Are you supposed to be able to run the interface test without having a car connected to it? Maybe xp on a virtual machine is worth a shot.

Disabling driver signing and installing everything (drivers included) as an administrator made it work fine for me on Windows 7, 8 and 10.

Installed it in WMPlayer now just to test, but still get "interface test failed" when I try to run the test. Can anyone confirm if you are supposed to be able to run the interface without connection to the car or if it should be connected to the car when running the test?

Just out of interest are you connected to the car What car are you listing it as in settings ? Feel sure you have to use the Astra option to get into the abs and air bag system

Can't be sure as its been a while since using but I think it needs to be connected to the car. Have you tried finding some other instructions for it online that are a bit easier to understand, I'll see if I can find mine when it gets light in a few hours.

Hi gents,

I have googled all the instructions I could find so I have read lots of interesting chinese google translate stuff, and they all seem to indicate that you can run the interface test without being connected to the car.

I know about the Astra bit for getting into the airbag / abs module, and tried connecting with choosing Astra as well with no luck.

I ordered another one last night, let's see if it makes any difference.

As others have suggested you will need to disable driver signing. This can be done under settings in Windows 10, I'm not sure where it is in Windows 7

save all the hassle and making your pc insecure, and just run a XP virtual PC with virtualbox.

I've just plugged my device into my computer (not plugged into car) and it gives the following error when I click on 'Test Interface':

'Please connect your interface to the USB port, or install the USB driver!'

I've used it to connect to my car successfully before with no issues, so I would say that it probably needs to be plugged into the car to work properly!

Tried with the car connected. On the 64 bit windos laptop as soon as I connceted to the car the blue screen of death came on. Tried it in a virtual xp as well but no luck. The windows 32 bit laptop didn't work either. Anyhow another different opcom ordered. Hope that will sort it.
