I knew I shouldn't have taken it out of its comfortable cave! Chose to drive it to work today, as I leave early it's still pretty dark. Lights all on and going well until... Got to full beam and only the right main beam comes on. Odd thinks I. Check the left bulb and that is fine, and on closer inspection when I pull for full beam the side light on the left side goes out and no full beam appears. Anyone else had this and know how to rectify it?

Start at the headlights and work back. It will probably be the connectors behind the headlights.

Experienced something very similar on mine, I think Fiveoclock may be spot on here, I took the headlights out, cleaned all the connectors up, put back together and all is now well. You may want to smear some non contact grease or the likes on the connector blocks after you've cleaned them up, just to try and prevent further episodes, if that's what it is of course.

check the negative cable to the lefthand headlight unit - it is the black wire(s)

Thanks folks. Will check these at the weekend and see what can be done. No doubt this willl end up costing somewhere around £600 if my vx year is to be continued.

When I resealed my lenses I plugged the headlights in and the left indicator didn't work. I cleaned the contacts and they were fine! Hopefully it's something similar for you!

Well I've cleaned contacts and wiggle wires and no change sadly. The (new) hids are flickering every now and then too. The previous set did this too and I replaced them with this lot but it looks as if the problem lies further up the chain. Thoughs? Cheers J

going by the symptoms you describe in the first post, it would appear that the negative feed is not getting to the L/H headlight, whether thats a broken wire or something elses requires further investigation. Or possibly something is shorting out the headlight when on main beam.

I could have a look if you want to pop down.
