As a very soon to be owner (I will spill all soon) I would like to know the best places to get service items, especially a cam belt kit.

Also what oil do these bests need?

If anyone has a CD copy of the manual would you be kind enough to PM me  :)

Autovaux tend to be cheapest on service items, best to ring them though. They can supply almost anything, even if it's not listed on the website. Prices over the phone are usually better too ;)

I meant the workshop manual.

I tried the drop box one but it keeps freezing mid download.

I know there is an online copy but a cd/dvd on my laptop would be so useful.

Cheers

Some things are far cheaper if you search for the equivalent Astra/Zafira items. To give an example, in the past most places sold VX220 clutch slave cylinders for around £120. However I used to buy the exact same Astra item for £55 off eBay.

As is often the case, the retail price of the item is not related to the manufacturing cost what-so-ever (rather like over expensive bling watches (yes, I thought I'd hammer this one home again!!)).

Hmm, I can't remember what I put on last, but I'd stick with OEM if you can as it is a critical part that you can't inspect easily.

I used to buy the exact same Astra item for £55 off eBay.

"the exact same"?

"the same" would do, or "exactly the same" if you must. :flame:

You are right Foxy, I need to brush up my grammar.

Edit: Although by "exact same" I was implying it was the identical manufacturer as the OEM item  (as opposed to a pattern part made by a different manufacturer).

While where at it, it's 'advice' you're after, not 'advise'. :P

When you install the old/new one, I'd advise fitting a lock nut over the existing M10 nut, as turbos have a habit of unwinding bolts near them (due to the high freq vibrations).

Buy OEM, and you won't go wrong, and by OEM I mean the original equipment manufacturers Vauxhall used, not necessarily Vauxhaull or Lotus themselves. And don't worry about the spelling, grammer freaks, I'm sure you don't give a flying Fock if your car stays in good shape or shayp.

That's correct usage by me, you dummy! I was using the verb "advise". You are getting confused with the noun "advice".

Read here to see the difference: http://www.grammar-m...vice_advise.htm
