After my first day in the dry with VXR #64 yesterday I think I might well be hooked.

I have quite a few plans for the car but I will be keeping it simple to start with.

Here she is as i bought her.

Current to do list:

full service inc timing belt

replace wiper and mod to wiper blade mounted washer jets

replace the vacuum lines that are original with silicone (already had one fail)

fix the missing rear clam fixings

get the boost gauge into a centre holder (I've already knocked it off once)

fix bonnet release - keeps coming off release arm

replace missing seat belt cover - I understand this is a common problem

adjust windows

sort out the weather seals the best I can - I suspect these cars are prone to leaking

future to do:

get the wish arms off and have them plated or painted or powder coated

sort out little paint work niggles

possibly fit a LSD, need to do more research

decisions to make:

Keep TMS diffuser or swap out for a MMG long one

Keep the carbon rear wing or remove it

long term plans.....that would be spoilers

I'm looking forward to meeting other VX220 owners and driving the car as much as possible in the coming year and more.

Did the VXR not have a leather centre console? Like the tubbies did?

No. I think they went overboard on black anodising so much, that they needed some silver contrast back.

Glad you're really enjoying the car, it's a stunning example! Personally I'd get rid of the wing and diffuser, I think they look amazing standard. The bits you want to put right are things all owners have to endure / rectify. Adjusting the windows and getting the roof to seal well can be a nightmare! Hopefully meet you and have a look round the car at some point this year! 👍🏻

I have tried to find a definitive list of all the VXR differences but I'm yet to. Afaik they all had silver center consoles. I'm sure the sales blurb would of said they were track orientated so the leather was added weight. It certainly feel minimalistic in the cabin.

Big thanks to frosty34 for the excellent quality fire extinguisher bracket.

And big thanks to Gaz of Spitfire for the HCBs, and for all the toe link set up info.

Cheers guys.

Leather console was part of leather trim option pack. (seats and door door also) for tubo.

Specifically for the vxr they put the grey console in.

Not directly VX related. I'm fed up of working on the car on my drive in the wet so a long over due tidy up of my garage is underway. Going to take a few days to organise it properly but will be worth it.

TMS diffuser up for sale and MMG long 6 fin on order with lowering kit.

After repeatedly knocking the boost gauge off I thought this might be a better solution.

I will put a oil temp/pressure gauge in one opening and a OBD gauge in the other, one for track day monitoring and the other for general diagnosis.

Garage finally cleared

And not a moment too soon, it would appear my clutch release bearing needs changing. If the clam comes off I'll tidy up the cc install, possibly fit a bulk head access panel, look at installing an oil temp and pressure sender and investigate what's involved in moving the boot wiring and ECU to the bulkhead behind the passages seat.

Just a little list to start with :(

ATB on order through a contact, I live 5 minutes from Quafe so a little string pulling had been done :)

Have you thought about having a remap on it yet? 260 pack with RaceMode would compliment things very nicely if you want use on track.

It's sitting at about 300hp at the moment. Can't really take it much further without a forged engine which might be on the cards ;)

Okay, if its got a chargecooler , then we can do a lot better.

Yesterday, we did a remap at the client premises in Hove, for a new build forged engine, the most important request was to improve driveability.

TeamVXRacing, I developed the editor and engine definition for the VX turbo, then decided to give up the office job and provide a mobile service to UK and EU owners.

As a direct comparison , between a stage 4 map , from CS (dashed line), versus our own code restricted to the same engine load (solid line) , these are the raw figures from the dyno , so allow about +15% to get flywheel.

Important to note , the much better torque low down, at much less boost and hence driveability in the 2000-3000rpm range.

This is the 2016 release , there are more improvements in the pipeline coming soon.
