Is it normal for the spring on the coil over to touch the chassis on full droop? E.g when i have the car jacked up? The rear passenger side doesn't seem to do it but the rear drivers side does.. Second issue is that I'm getting a weird scraping sound when going over some bumps on the passenger side. I checked everything for a third time last night and i cant see anything catching, wasn't doing it on standard shocks though. Ride height is f125 r135. I don't think it can't be any part of the car touching the road, but I'm just a little lost at the moment what it could be and i cant take it to anyone right at the moment.

Better question, who has a set of Quantum Zeros? Do they squeak at all, e.g if you a driving with the windows closed and the stereo off at 30mph can you hear each corner noticeably churping as you go over bumps?

I have so much squeaking when going straight, and turning that just wasn't present on the standard billies. Seriously it can't be normal.

Wish I'd never bought the things at the moment.

I have the most I thought mine were very close But there was a slight gap which has not caused any issues of the last 12 months No chirping here

Some pictures here, with the car jacked up and on full droop.

You can see where the spring has rubbed the chassis and marked it and you can also see where the black paint has rubbed off the spring from where I adjusted the collar and it roated the spring as well.

I found last night that actually both rears rest against the chassis on full droop, not just the drivers side.

Turn the spring You can gain a bit of clearance there

No helpers because it's a road car. I think they gave me 300 front spring and 425 rear. Didn't want it to be too harsh on the roads for every day driving.

I had the same with my rear nitrons as the spring was 8" , I had loads of spare platform thread below , so no need , so replaced with Nitron for a 6" and a 2" helper with compresses normally to almost nothing flat.

Is the spring loose at full droop?

no because its got 2" of extra adjustment to get the preload I want and ride height. tbh springs loose is more a problem on the front at about 110-120mm RH

My springs are not loose at full droop no. I mean maybe i could add more preload to get a bit of clearance, but that would in turn increase the rear ride height which is already at about 133mm I've got a lot of squeaking and creaking coming from each corner that's turned up since fitting the zeros, if i put my standard billies back on its gone. Logic says that it must be coming from the zeros. I think I'm going to have to return them for testing.

Are they brand new? Pretty much impossible to fit them wrong IMO...

They are brand new yeah, I've checked the fitment 3 times i agree it would be pretty hard to fit them wrong.

Did you put grease on the o-rings for the damper eye things?

Had the same kind of rubbing there with some 46 shocks @ droop.

Decided it was due to tolerances in the subframe; Block of wood plus few moderate hammer strikes in that area and all was fine.

I haven't, I was told not to grease anything. Just fit and bolt up.

I did ask several times about if I should have greased anything.

Did you grease them?

I don't have Quantums and I bought my NSS second hand... so I haven't actually done this. Maybe it's greased from factory.

Following with interest as I am thinking of upgrading dampers. But in the last month I've read about Nitron NTRs not coming with helper springs... and now this. Don't know what to think!

Your springs seem awfully wide for the seat as they are exending past the edge. Were perhaps 2.5" springs fitted instead of 2.25" ones?

Bye, Arno.

Well spotted, yes this looks likely to me. Even if they are the correct 2.25" ones, it their fitment looks worrying.

A possible solution is to take the top coilover mounting bracket off. Make a 2mm or 3mm flat plate spacer to go under the mounting bracket, which will thus push the whole assembly out a bit (away from the chassis). This will in effect slight modify your effective spring LB and valve rate (due to the minor angle change), but barely anything.
