Your springs seem awfully wide for the seat as they are exending past the edge. Were perhaps 2.5" springs fitted instead of 2.25" ones?

Bye, Arno.

Well spotted, yes this looks likely to me. Even if they are the correct 2.25" ones, it their fitment looks worrying.

A possible solution is to take the top coilover mounting bracket off. Make a 2mm or 3mm flat plate spacer to go under the mounting bracket, which will thus push the whole assembly out a bit (away from the chassis). This will in effect slight modify your effective spring LB and valve rate (due to the minor angle change), but barely anything.

Why would you do that? Just phone EP and ask for the right ones. No need to make this more complex.

Did you put grease on the o-rings for the damper eye things?

I haven't, I was told not to grease anything. Just fit and bolt up.

I did ask several times about if I should have greased anything.

Did you grease them?

I queried EP about this, and they said you don't have to grease the bearings, just ensure you fit the O-ring.

You do have to do this with (at least some) Nitron's however, with the little tub of red grease.

I should have been a bit clearer, the second paragraph was a potential solution if the springs are in fact the correct ones. I fully agree he OP needs to check the spring diameter issue first, as they look worrisome to me.

Well spotted, i will check spring diameter later when i am home. Does anyone else have pictures of zeros fitted without helpers, for comparison to mine?

I will double check mine later, but comparing my pictures from the shared album posted earlier in the thread, they seem to overhang the collar as much as this picture which was posted by another VX220.org member:

From what I remember the purple adjuster stops the spring moving side to side so would say they are the correct springs or the internal bit of the spring would be lose on the external purple bit

I still got issues with these dampers.

They had 3 noises ( none of which I had on standard dampers ).

 • a chrip all the time as the damper deal with any bumps -  which has now gone ( quantum closed off the bleed valve or something )
 • lots of creaking/squeaking at low speeds, small roundabouts, turning in and out of junctions etc
 • a weird noise when hitting harder bumps, normally downward bumps kind of like a reversed speed bump, I get a weird noise from whichever corner hits the bump. There are certain bumps I go over each day on the way to work which without fail produce the same noise every damn time.

Quantum, MBR and EliseParts have all been helpful in trying to figure this out so I can't really fault them but I kinda wish I got the Nitrons.

Anyone else with Zeros got any noises? I know one other member had a set of Quantums fitted a few months ago and they had to go back to Quantum because they had the same 'chirping' that I had but I've not been able to find out from him if he has the other 2 noises I've got.

I figured on the track you probably wouldn't hear the 3rd noise because you don't tend to get bumps like that, but the sqeaking is so obvious.

I'm due to take the car down to Quantum so they can hear the noises I am referrring to, but I have to take time off work to go there so I've not yet been able to go. All in all a bit of a hassle, can't say I'd recommend the zeros to anyone at the moment, for £960 plus the money I've had to spend at MBR it's not been a good investment :(

I just checked some i have here and the springs sit exactly the same on the collars. Also, they fit with clearence.

Springs with no helpers? When you say they fit with clearance do you mean they have clearance even when jacked up and the shock is at full droop? Mine have clearance when the car is on the floor, it's only when jacked up that the spring touches the chassis.

Any noises when you drive them? That's more of an issue for me at the moment. I'm not concerned too much about the spring touching the chassis at full droop.

Yes, they are progressive springs with no helpers. They clear on full droop.
