Just wondering what people's opinions are on the Ati dampers as I'm looking to get a overdrive version with the new engine rebuild. There seems to be mixed reviews overseas with them and a few people saying stick to the oem 6 rib crank pulley. There not a cheap bit of kit so any advice or stories onf them will be great as there isn't much information with anyone fitting them.

The first question I'd ask myself is "is there actually a problem that requires this part"?

Not sure Nev which is the reason I ask. There is no one I know going this stage with the engine as in power wise and 1320 harrop so I'm just thinking of covering all the areas since I'm already spending a fortune on parts 🙈

Hello I have ati overdrive superdamper on my engine not easy to fit press on but have no problems little bit smoother engine vibrations and less beltslip if shifting was the benefits I see With overdrive a 2.75 pulley is around 2.60 like I have But it's very heavy I think it's not bad Nice day

crankshaft vibrations/harmonics at high rpm's...

From ZZP: To be able to spin the engine safely above 7200rpm, you will need to add 82# valve springs, and when you want to go above 7500rpm and still be safe I would recommend our neutral balance shafts and upgraded ATI balancer. The ATI damper is a very important mod, we have broken many crank keyways using the factory balancer/crank pulley, the ATI unit has cured that problem.

I've seen one broken oil pump gear and that engine had the stock balancer replaced by an "upgraded" lightweight alloy version...

Well I'm looking to fit a 2.6 inch pulley on the harrop, but if I got the damper then I would need to fit a 2.7. Rev max is going to be 7500 due to the crank but it's the other added benefits of the pulley that I also like. I've read that same thread with the broken oil pump gear and when you read more into it he had fitted a cheap pulley that didn't last long at all. The majority of the USA lads say Ati pulley is the only trusted version out there and don't be tempted by company's selling lightweight versions.

I've been reading about these forged oil pump gears and was wondering where do you buy them from?

I have the GM Racing oil pump gears in mine, so does MaxR

The production oil pump gears can crack with an aftermarket crank pulley fitted.
