Was it really fast on the corners?

Why wouldn't it be?

Well, it weighs a lot more than a VX. So you'd expect it to be boat like and slow in comparison... but it just isn't!

👍 I know 😎😎, although TBF a properly set up modified VX would be quicker through the corners than an out of the factory Evora but the margin is much less than some imagine. I know of one Evora with modified suspension and set up which does move the game on to another level

Weight doesn't really determine corner speeds if the chassis and tyres are set up accordingly. Plus you've stability systems you can lean on, and thus it inspires driver confidence (which is actually the thing that takes you round corners quickest ;)) The Evora I was in (at roads speeds at least) felt like it cornered almost flat and had minimal pitch / dive - a standard-ish VX wouldn't see which way it went on a proper road IMO..

I've been a passenger in Foxy's Evora and the car was really impressive on track. Even when we were on two wheels at Blanchimont!

All on soft suspension too, fancy that...

I'd personally fully expect it to be good in the corners, I just wanted to see if it contradicted James_LY's view that you have to have hard suspension to get round a track fast. Unfortunately I've never even sat in one yet, let alone had a passenger ride as I don't actually know anyone over here who has one. I guess I'd prefer the Exige variant as it's more raw (presumably).

They're fast through the corners but slower than a vx on stiff springs... :P

When I say fast, it cornered at a slightly lower speed than my VX, which is on soft (in upgraded Lotus terms) NSS. I think a better setup VX with stiffer springs would out corner both of them.

Plus comparing the two is a bit more complex than just weight difference and spring rate. An Evora has a wider track, longer wheelbase in its favour and loads of factors I don't have the facts for.

Anyway don't want to drag off topic, PM me if you like Nev, it's an interesting discussion for me :)

No, the other way around.

The N/A Evora is a supremely accomplished GT car.  Its track performance belies its size and weight, a product of Lotus' preeminence in chassis design.  It is simply baffling how a car with such supple suspension can corner and brake on a circuit with utter composure.  It's not a trick the VX can perform.

The Evora's downside is its size.  It's a much bigger car and simply cannot be threaded down a typical British road in the same manner as a VX.  It's the same factor that causes one to realise that all modern Ferraris, Lamborghinis etc are nothing more than bloated status symbols, of no utility for their stated purpose.

Nev, if you come to the National there will be 2-3 Evoras and at least 1 v6 Exige for you to have a good poke around
