Thinking about an engine and flappy paddle transplant, any ideas about possible donor cars?

don't think Alfa is any good.

Obvious suggestion would be a vag... but just get a hyabusa Hartley style v8 in there :)

Vags been done just wondering about their gearbox, after driving a flappy paddle gearshift I am really impressed, with 400 BHP and as seamless shift this car would be even more epic.

Someone in Holland or Germany I think put a V10 M5 engine and box into an S2 Elise. I'm sure it goes well.....

Nick you want the later DQ500 vag DSG if thinking that route for a transverse box. Far stronger and better than the earlier 250's DG

I thought your VX was stripped and sold, how can you be thinking of putting different engine in it now?

My long term project goal is to put a Hayabusa engine and box in, then rotrex it.

350bhp, sequential box, 700kg possible weight.

But that's a few years away and its whether the box can take the additional weight/power.

Problem there Lee they are great in a straight line but always killed them on track near a corner

Thanks Duncan.

Nev engine and gearbox has gone plus doors, quantums,  front clam and soft top rest is here could do a build again, just thinking

I would ask the question of why your doing it and then the shortlist gets nice and easy. For value and ease of installation I'm guessing the vag turbo dsg is tried and tested. For revs there's been a Honda k20a fitted to one in Italy but pair shift wood have to be custom. If it's for fast straight line and noise then the M5 v10 would be ballistic, as would a jaguar v8sc (a la caral) Seloc told a tale of an S2 with a Ferrari V8 in it but I'm not sure it ever got finished. If you want something completely off the wall for the engineering challenge how about an R26 skyline engine and quaife sequential!!!

Sweden (has to be the mad swedes! :D ) :

Quite extensive modifications though with an additional steel subframe on the front too for extra track width and much wider wheels and porker brakes etc.

Bye, Arno.

:D The v10 looks mental

problem with the Honda engines for me is having to rev them to death to get to where the power is.

I prefer non turbo truthfully maybe S/C  let the search begin

How difficult would one one these gearboxes be to fit my A28? If at all... Would love flappy paddle but the vectra VXR didn't have it.

Been thinking alone those lines, looking at which engine and gearbox would fit the vx chassis.

To get the DSG working correctly it is not easy, especially if planning to retain the oem ecu. Adaptor plate and custom shafts apart it would get expensive to mate to the vectra vxr lump Due to too many potential limitations and why I am using the syvec ecu on the RS3 5 pot / dsg conversion I my Renault 5 Gives me everything I want including full control over the dsg, launch control, motorsport traction control, amount of chav pop bangs on down shift, feeds my RT digi dash perfect etc etc Nick the v6 vag options fit and options to mount both ways, I dropped a rs4 v8 in and needed work to fit but nothing too drastic Golf R / dsg would fit but your stuck with 4 pot sound track 5 pot a good for and compromise ;) DG

Easier, cheaper, faster & more reliable to just buy an Audi TT RS.

Unless you go above 400 BHP in a VXT many fast OEM cars will still cream you in a straightish line. Even with 500 HP, these fast cars are still a threat if you are cught with your pants down at 3000 RPM.
