My vx has just failed its MOT on a front offside headlamp - the adjustor is broken! Vauxhall are quoting £1200 to replace the whole unit! Anyone got a spare one knocking around lol

I'm considering my options, but I've learnt from experience that if you buy cheap, you often buy twice.... decisions decisions! This will mean that my car has cost me over £10 per mile driven in the last 12 months...

The adjuster can be repaired but you have to split the unit to get at it. There's a guide somewhere on here.

Spoke to the mechanic, he's going to see if he can repair, there's still hope! I can't decide whether to laugh or cry - oh well, its only money :)

I think its possible, so it may be just a little Vauxhall labour time. To be honest the old girl needs a little bit of love and attention, so I can't complain too much.

PM Fezzzarseus he will talk you through the repair procedure :D ;) It's pretty simple you cut the bottom out of the unit under where the adjuster is. Super glue will get you through the mot but I now famously had one that we got plastic stapled. Its a very strong repair probably even stronger than it was when the adjuster is leaning on the thickness of the plastic. If you are lucky the join won't be visible on the top side. Falling that split and refinish. Its so easy the guy we got to do the stapling had to have £20 forced on him as he wasn't going to charge us.

Borrow one off a local to get you through the MOT then you can take your time repairing yours, not something you want to rush!

This indeed, really easy to change. Good luck.

FFS, 2 years later it's a MOT failure (again!).  I can only assume there's a new guy working there :(

Anyone got a working drivers side headlight?  Ebay has a couple of broken ones, but nothing else...

How did you get the back of the headlight unit off?  Last time I looked it was plastic welded together?
