I am considering getting myself a Tillett B6 or possibly B5. When I look around the forum I get mixed inputs, this thread basically indicates the B6 won't fit:

http://www.vx220.org...llett-b6-seats/

Other threads implies otherwise and I even found an old group buy of B5 and B6.

So what's the deal? Does the B6 fit? I'm probably going for the old non-FIA version, not the "Screamer".

Will I have to remove the headrest? Is that a problem?

Since I will have to get the car through Swedish MOT I will have to have the original seat belts (in addition to the 6-point harness I'm planning). Will there be a problem with that? For instance fitting the buckle?

Hi,

there is a lot on the forum about the seats

I don't know about the B5 but : www.facebook.com/Eltech.Italia/

has great stuff at a reasonable price (for me)

Yes, I know about eltech and other brands but I have decided to go for Tillett. I also know there is a lot of info on the forum but as mentioned I find various threads contradicting. Also I am not sure if the B6 works with standard belt in the VX.

I have B5s, they fit fine in the car but because they have rolled edges it stops the centre console from fitting so you have to run without it. Massive improvement on the oem seats though , and I even prefer them to probax.

I'm pretty sure a b6 will fit but not the large version and even then you might have to lose the centre cover thing

I have B6s in mine. Centre cover thing has to go and you need an adapter to make the seatbelts fit which Tillett will sell you. Awesome seat but makes getting in and out even more difficult Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

With hindsight I would fit a B6 on the drivers side and a B5 for the passenger

Unfortunately I only have budget for one seat so driver side only for me...

I tried the B5s in another local VX220 and I am pretty sure the centre console was still mounted. He had the seats mounted on runners, pete-r, do you have the fixed brackets? There is only one width of the B5, isn't it, so I assume you have the same seats.

The B6 comes in different widths, I am pretty slim so I would get the narrowest version. Acidpopstar, which width do you use? And do you know what this adapter you mentioned is called? You don't mean one of the specific brackets for mounting the seat, right?

Thank you for helping me out!

Centre console still fits with B5's, but catches in fully forward position. Having Sat in Acidpostars car many times I would stick with B5's.

As crabash says it will fit when the seats are slid back but once you move them forward which I do because I'm short and I put the roof on the tray behind the seats, then the seat hits the console as it widens. I'm on oem drivers runner and fixed passenger mounts.

The Caterham tillets come without the rolled edge which might mean you could retain the centre console in the vx. Not sure if model number but I think theyre a B6 - calertainly very snug!

Thanks for all your replies. Sounds like there is a way to get both seats to fit, now I just need to decide which way to go. I seem to change my mind all the time...

I had b6 tillets in my Westfield and they were an awesome seat. I bought them through a fillet dealer who was great - he sent me one seat with a rolled adage and one without to see which fitted best. He then swapped the one I didn’t want for free at the end and paid all courier charges. Fantastic seat and fantastic service... That said, I really fancy some eltech seats for the vx.... Does anyone have picture of a B6 fitted? How much does the seat raise above the sill and how big of a hassle is it to get in and out?

I can take one. It doesn’t raise above the sill but does mean you don’t just plop down into it as easy as a lower sided seat (eg B5). They do require some fettling to get them to fit. I have some lower back problems which means I have to peel back the roof to get in and out comfortably but someone a bit more nimble (and slimmer) could probs manage just fine. I have 2 B6F seats. The narrower carbon ones. I don' have the centre console thing in though and it's tight.
