Glue first ?
How do you stop it moving around while going off ?

They took me a few days and I used gorilla glue with clamps for the light face.

I then moulded new lamp unit mount points, making use of the old ones. Allowing the putty to fully set.

Once this set, I covered all the putty in epoxy resin and fiberglass paste.

You can buy these from Halfords.

A lot of sanding down, spraying, test fitting, oven baking, sealing.

Then done. Took around 3 days I guess for both.

Time will tell how strong they are with normal driving use.

Over 130 miles so far, bloody LOVE it!

Nice being back in a VX, its a smoother ride than my old vx for sure but everything is new.

Its settled in and is a nice place to be, tight with two people, forget that after having the Ftype.

Will get a few hundred more miles under its belt before a mini check over starts..

Also, plasti dip is holding up well, 0 stone chips.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the VX220 Mark. It wasn't long ago when I spoke to you that I got the impression you would never go back to the VX.

I obviously completely misunderstood you, but I got the impression that you wished you'd bought a car like the F type sooner and not spent so much time fixing your old VX220.

Deffo wish I bought a F-type sooner and not wasted my time with Exige v6s. I shouldn't of thought it was a 50k track replacement for my old VX stg4.

Had my old VX for a long time, did lots of work/upgrades on that, had many miles worth of fun times, very happy times.

Not forgetting that I've built MG cup cars and they all live up, with the last one in racing events with its new owner.

This new VX was always a different side of ownership as it was a project build to save a VX, building how I wanted it.

I'm hoping 2019 will see it transform even more  :D

Don't wanna pollute this thread, but do you have any post elsewhere on why you didn't like the v6 Exige? I'm pondering one, but don't wanna make the same mistake :)

If you already have a upgraded vx220 with over 300bhp then I wouldn't bother with the exige, you will just feel like your in a slower fatter vx which was very easy to drive quick with its safety features.

I wasn't willing to spend another 15k on mine to get it to same performance as the vx, shocks & 100bhp more.

If I never owned a vx and had a normal car I would of loved it. Would of thought it was the quickest car in the world for sure.

Sound was ok, std v6s. Same lotus build quality, less rattles but wasn't taken apart 100 times. Never truly felt like a 50k car, let alone over 100k for the newer ones.

The Ftype 380 feels and goes like it's worth the cost, it's on a different level for sure, so for my needs is a much better car.

Makes the vx look like pocket money but with the same buzz.

If you do buy one, make sure you go for a 350 or above model. The v6s never liked to rev and change gear at the same time. Some say they fixed that with later models.

Air con was nice.

Almost 200 miles of NA driving fun completed, bloody love it and brings a love that the Exige v6s never replaced.

I'm working out most of the rattles, biggest ones which made a lot of difference had been the loose boot release cable.

With everything being refreshed or replaced with brand new items, its driving like a brand new car, over the moon with the cars outcome with all the work done, I think everyone should DIY the VX220!

Build time line ... March to August  2018
