Eyup. After swapping out my 16" front td to a 17" version still unsure if tyre choice was correct. I'm running 225/45 (7.5" rim)rear giving a diameter of 634.4mm and a front of 195/45 (7") with dia.of 607.3mm.

My question is this; with original 175/55 giving 623.3mm diameter, would I be better off having a 205/45 (616.3) returning to nearer original tyre height. Will the 205/45r17 rub? Anyone else running this setup?

Thanks.

If you want to keep your ABS working it's best to keep the delta between the f/r circumferences the same as OEM. If you are struggling with front tyre sizes to do this, then you can consider changing the rears next time they wear out.

I find having a big % profile on the front important too, the lowest % profile I've had is 35% and it is not good for the road, I've also tried 40% and 45% and 50%. 50% is best IMO.

Was tempted to try a 205/45r17 but 195 close to sills when locked over.

Will the 205/45r17 rub?

Depends.

I have 7.5x17" wheels on front of mine (DTCs) and with 205/45 AD08R tyres no clearance issues, with 205/45 R888R tyres they rub very slightly on the inner arch liner on full lock. Also depends on ride height etc. Assume the DTC front wheels have same offset as TD but again depends on that also.

Ta. Would you mind taking a pic between rear of front arch with some lock applied, please. Mine looks really close with current wheel and tyre combo.

I also have the ATS dtc wheels with AD08R 205/45 17 tyres, no rubbing issues at all

What offset are your 7.5s? I'll check mine and see how different they are. Only running 7s on the front and gap seems close on rear edge of tyre.

Front DTC are ET20. Another confirmation from my side, no rubbing at all with 205/45/17 Hankook on DTC.

Pretty sure mine are et20 on a 17x7. I'll have to have another look before making a purchase. Ta.

I'm currently running TDs with AD08 tyres. 205/55/16 front and 235 /45/17 rear on standard suspension. The fronts just rub slightly on full lock. I have the Lotus 4 channel ABS . I chose these sizes because I don't want the faff of recalibrating my traction control. However I don't like the 205/16 fronts compared with the 195/17 I ran previously. The steering tramlines and does not feel as sharp. When it's time to change tyres I may wellrevert to 195 fronts.

Personally I thought 205/45 was OK for AD08 16 inch. 205/40 AD08 16 inch were tramlining monsters - in fact there was more fight from the steering than any fwd car I have driven. Now have NS-2R in 195/50 16 inch which are far superior for how I drive. Admittedly my car is pretty low.

I have wondered about 17 inch fronts but can't see that there is a gripy 195/40 tyre.
