This is getting very annoying now. Im having no luck getting the reader to communicate any more. Even my old laptop which worked fine has given up. I fcuking hate computers.

I was having problems connection with windows 10 through a cable ELM. I happened to have a bluetooth ELM so tried that with the same laptop and it works fine. Although I want to get the cable sorted in the end it has allowed me to get the car up and running.

So I have now bought a proper ELM unit, rather than a cheap Chinese alternative.

£40 so not cheap but worth it if it works!
Will let you know how I get on but Peter seems to think that it should do the job.

An update on scan tool device that I bought. It worked perfectly first time I plugged it into my laptop (windows 10) with no need to put the laptop into 'driver signature disable mode'. It installed the drivers automatically and connected to OBDtuner without any issues. 100% recommend this for OBDtuner. so much better than the cheap ELM crap on Amazon etc.
