Hi ¡¡

It's my first topic here ¡¡

I'm doing a Saab 2.2 conversion and the mechanic decided to use the Saab thermostat housing (cutting and  wellding the gear cable mounting).

Has any of you used this solution?

I think the cooling route could work (closing one of the inlets) but I think I will have problems with the temp sensor wich is diffrerent from Z22SE.

Is it a waste of time to use this housing ?

kind Regards

I always use the original z22se item, the saab parts go to the recycling centre / scrap metal bin

I used the Z22SE housing, but I have the thermostat cover modified by welding on 2x 19mm ports to allow the Saab oil cooler hoses to the connected (similar to the plastic Saab thermostat cover).

You only need to do this if you want to junk the external oil cooler and use the Saab oil cooler that is bolted to the oil filter.

You can also loop in the heater hoses, which worked ok (not sure how well it would work with high track or ambient temps however..)

I'm afraid I will have to change the stat housing...

I don't like to do an "experiment" at this point.

Thanks ¡¡
