Be aware that those prices on the Back on Track website bear no resemblance of what they actually charge if you use them.
When I had my C service done last year on my Turbo, they neglected to tell me that they had started to charge for parts in there 'fixed price' servicing, so what they advertise at £449, is plus VAT(another thing that annoys me), plus parts, which ended up costing £781! Jez did say he was going to change the website when I moaned, but he has obviously been too busy since September last year.
I can't fault their work, but if I had still had the VX this year I don't think I would have been using them again as I felt properly ripped off!

Genuine OEM cambelt kits, if you include a water pump (I would unless you know it's been changed) are £125 from Courtenay. If you are ok with spanners, this would be around 4-5 hours work if you are taking it nice and easy with several tea breaks.

The job is easier if you have a cam locking tool, I have a one you can have for the price of postage.

That's really kind of you Steve I appreciate that but I don't have the confidence to tackle a cambelt as I've never done one before and really would rather take it somewhere to be done properly.
I'd be nervous of messing it up and wrecking my engine

I think your looking at around £550 for the service and cam belt

If you post up your location people might be able to point you in the direction of mechanics local to you who could carry out the job.

I've never seen a cambelt that has worn badly (on various models/makes) in my years, the OEM service intervals are perhaps understandably cautious and bit too frequent IMO. It's often the tensioned pulley that seizes, something you can test easily by prising it with a screwdriver to check it's moving freely, you can also inspect the camlbelt and turn the engine over on the crank main bolt. Both those checks would only take 60 mins under the car.
