I'm thinking about putting a solar panel on my shed roof to run some lights and maybe a pond pump. Has anyone done anything like this? I'm interested in what works / what doesn't etc.

Have a small off grid system in a field in Derbyshire, using 2 small solar panels, a controller and some batteries, works fine. Issue is around how much storage you want and batteries are expensive. When connecting the batteries in parallel ( to increase storage capacity) you need to be careful how you connect them otherwise the first battery will always get fcked, also consider whether you want 12v or 24v output into any inverter, if you want mains output then the cost mounts up quickly, we also have a wind turbine feeding the battery bank...I'm thinking about putting a solar panel on my shed roof to run some lights and maybe a pond pump. I had a solar panel on my shed for a wee light. Was great for a week then packed in. Got it in Poundland or Home Bargains tho so sure you can get better!
I must be a grown up, cos I don't need a light when I wee!
