Hi everyone

What are the best handbrake and gear change cables to buy, seems there are some problems with some aftermarket ones. Opinions differ from person to person, just want smooth gear change and them not to fall off.

Genuine cables are probably the best, the aftermarket gear cables have a bigger diameter and are thus harder to install.

You should add some heat sleeving to the replacement gear cables to prevent any heat damage from the exhaust.

I have a pair of brand new genuine gear cables for sale - http://www.vx220.org...em-gear-cables/

Handbrake cable available from Eliseparts - https://www.elisepar...brake-cable-s2/

or genuine handbrake cable from Lotus dealer - https://www.deroure....C=1&PBID=932546

Lotus part number A120J0039F supercedes the vx220 specific part number D116J0062F

Thanks Vocky for all the information, have heat sleeving but by the time I fitted it damage was already started. No shame to the car it a 2006 VXT that was the car you said they were for, Its never had any fitted as I have had the car since 4 months old.

It's noted beforenote that Turbo gear cables are longer than the NA version, so if used on a 2.2 NA you will need to do some creative looping to fit the longer T-cables without messing up the feel...
