The annual insurance dance has started for me, phoning round the different insurance providers.

VX220 2.2 SC, wheels, tyres, brakes, suspension, harnesses declared.

Owned the car since 2010, 0 endorsements or claims. Driving since 2006.

My renewal with Footman James is coming out at £474 on the policy and includes a mileage of 4k with both my wife and I covered. I rang Adrian Flux and they are saying that as the car is over 10 years old it's not something they will insure!

Chris Knot weren't interested. Going to try Henderson Taylor tomorrow. Any other recommendations? Needs to have the TD cover.

Horses for courses, one persons insurance company which is brilliant and unbeatable can be anothers utterly useless option. Footman wouldnt touch me because my car was parked on the road, despite passing my test in 1993 and a clean driving record...Adrian Flux who I have used for a few years happily insured me (as did they for my 24 year old Celica GT4 previously).

I think on here most people tend to come back with a company called Reis I think it is who also throw in track day cover.

I share your frustration though, the insurance algorithms do fall over when it comes to niche cars quite regularly and leave the brokers like the ones you mentioned having to make stuff up trying to explain why they wont insure you.

I was getting similar prices to yourself then found Performance Direct (aka Grove & Dean) who came back with £246 with wheels, brakes, stage 2, exhaust, suspension, 2nd car and also 4K miles p/a and always garaged. They asked a lot of questions and even checked out my house on google st view, I was being honest and once they were convinced of this, they were great

Some companies just don't want to know about modified cars so price high, for PD it seems to be their thing

Hope that helps - good luck!

I just moved from Admiral to Classic Line.

£30
Extra for 6 days and an agreed value.

Thought it was worth every penny 👍

Try A Plan, Thatcham Office.

I was with REIS first year and APLAN the last two years. I think REIS offers track day insurance OR windscreen cover, not both without paying extra.

SKY Insurance initially beat my Aplan renewal this year.. Which Aplan then matched.

My REIS policy says that windscreen damage is only not covered if the damage occurred on a trackday (i.e. if occurred on the road, then windscreen is covered..)..

Interesting that Adriat Flux say they won't insure over 10 years old, my 15 year old car is with them 🤣

HT where very gd when I used them, unfortunately you do have to just do the merry go round of calling everywhere.

My vans insurance went up by 30% this year, quick online comparison gave it cheaper than the previous years cover. Called my insurer and it instantly dropped to match.

That’s odd. I renewed with Flux recently... car’s a modded 2003. They were very easy to deal with. Cheaper than that FJ quote, also. (I appreciate that this may not be apples with apples, but worth a follow up call?)

Footman James here who, so far, have been good. Includes 4 or 5 track days which is enough for me.
