Really sad news. Met Luke only a few times but he was always enthusiastic, competitive & passionate. My thoughts go out to the Family, and everyone in the convoy. Hoping the passenger is OK.

Terrible news, only met him once at a national, was a very friendly and cheerful chap.

Luke was a big part of our group in Yorkshire. Please give a little to help his girlfriend, Frankie, and their baby daughter through the most difficult of times.

Yeah very active over the years. Haggi was his forum name and he built his 2.2 into various stages of SC tune, culminating in a massive build where he converted the clams to S2 Exige (the VXige!) and his engine was pushing 500bhp

So sad to hear this, really nice guy and he'd done amazing things with his car.

I hope his passenger pulls through ok.

Such a shame, thoughts are with his family.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your kind words about Luke. I don't wish to offer many details and frankly I don't know many, nor do I want to.
His friend is stable, but has suffered life altering injuries. His friends that witnessed it and pulled them both out are traumatised. For this reason alone greater detail will not be shared willingly as far as I can control it atleast.
Luke was pronounced at the scene, when I got the call I already knew he was gone. The fire service tried valiantly, there was a doctor, a paramedic and even a defibrillator in one of the vehicles that happened to be behind them all. With this I know they tried everything, but I know he was gone before he left that car.
We can all take solace that he left with a smile on his face doing something he loved.
I have chosen not to make any media statements, there is a stigma around young men and fast cars and I do not wish to tarnish his memory. All of us are guilty of driving too fast or a bit recklessly at times, but luke loved that car and whilst he might like to play he was never stupid, he put too much money into it to risk it, and for those of you that know luke well you will know he was tight fisted with his money. They believe there was something on the road surface and it was just a case of downright shitty luck.

If any of you have pictures of luke and or his car I would be really grateful to receive them. I need to keep his memory alive for our daughter and its times like this I curse myself that we are both terrible at remembering to take pictures.
Again thank you all for your kind words.

Frankey
John has very kindly agreed to collect any pictures for me if you could email them to him at: jclifton@yorkcollege.ac.uk

I am absolutely stunned. The last message I have in my PM's was from Luke from about a year ago. Truly saddened to hear this, such a great person :(

Bloody tragic and grim news for all of us I am sure. :(

He contacted me about a week ago to ask for some routes ideas in Wales and I sent him a couple of maps. Little did I realise this would happen. :(

Just one of those things Nev, don't blame yourself.

Another day, a cleaner road surface, one less pot hole etc, any number of causes and circumstances.
