Is Titan the only place to send the steering rack back to these days to get it refurbed?  Rock Auto comes up in a search on .org, but cant see any details on line

A few posts on here indicate the components direct are about £30, yet the following guide indicates £100 service fee, plus parts on top (£61)

Thanks

Its possible to do yourself, I have, there are instructuctions on seloc (attached)

I'd recommend upgrading to bronze cups in the steering arms especially if you track the car.(attached)

Through choice though having done it id send it away and avoid the hassle.

I did think about doing it myself, but i am learning to accept when i dont have time and should pay someone else.  The DIY route for me would be

1) take it off this weekend

2) buy parts

3) forget about it

4) Panic in May when i need the car for the Hoon / National

It's one of those jobs where the hassle of removal and replacement is such, you don't want the potential to have to do it again, hence send it off.  I had the Opcom on the airbag ast night after busting my squib after the Titan rebuild.

How xan you do that..?
You need to drill the small pin preventing the cup retainer to unscrew.
Then you need to drill again to reinstall a new pin as the existing holes will not match ...

I believe you need to first check to see if you have a Titan or Sonar rack as both were used in the VX application.

From personal experience, I would not refurb. Use this opportunity to upgrade to a fast rack from Elise Parts.

My refurb lasted less than 5k sadly before it started clicking again 😥.

Do it once and do it properly 👍

If refurbed correctly there is no reason that it won't last as much as when new.
Mine is still fine after 10k...
But because i used plastic cup and not bronze one it will fail again...
So i suggest another type of rack...

I managed to get a re furbed rack of ebay with new TREs, its less than 2.5 turns turn to turn so potentially its a quick rack as well.
