I can highly recommend stage 5!

Did you forge the engine internals?, If so who did the engine?

It was done by Courtenay. Lots of engine work including forging, balancing complete rebuild new stem seal, balancer shaft delete etc etc. Garratt Turbo. Dont want to mention reliability but its been great so far!

Thanks for all the comments, all really useful. One thing I am learning about these cars if that there are lots of opinions. After driving a turbo yesterday I think my mind is now made up.

It's easy to fall in love with the shove of the first turbo you drive! (that's kind of how I ended up with mine, which is now a stage 4). But you would be doing the supercharged and ITB cars an injustice if you don't at least experience them first. They all deliver power; and consequently drive, a bit differently. The turbo can certainly be exhilarating to drive, but also on the limit, one of the hardest to control.

Yes, like me, except I'm only 33, don't smoke and have slip on leather sandles with socks instead of slippers. I can't comment on my reflexes. I just love revving an NA motor out. That's what I love about this new MX5, it revs like the ITB, just pulls harder and harder to the red line and you have to be in third by about 55mph which I find more fun and makes the 6.5 second 0-60 time sound slower than it is - the VX220 is 70mph in second. However, I prefer a turbo in a daily for low down punch.

Massive thanks for all the messages we have had offering advice. We are still on the lookout for a car so if you are selling please feel free to message me. Have been all over the UK last week looking at some very nice cars and some dogs, best dog was one described as, ' very clean car with a few scratches', ended up having half the passenger side under sill missing and so much body filler that I recon if you got over 50mph it would all fall out.

Really enjoying looking at some great cars and hopefully will own one very soon.

I know right, I had the exact same experience when I was looking for a VX220. One person's idea of good condition is very different to another's. Here is my email richardmdf1@gmail.com, if you send me an email I will reply with a detailed description of my ITB car, I will include any minor faults too.

Best description I've heard on the difference between Turbo and Supercharged............

A Turbo is like having a Kick from the Devil

But a Supercharged is like having the hand of God thrusting you forward!

Personally don’t think the NA is fast especially in today’s market with hot hatches having 300-400bhp out the box.

NA Supercharged makes sense if you want a decent track car.

If you want fast get a Turbo. Quick out the box and most if not all are stage 1 or 2 which is great balance 100bhp more than the slow NA.
If your greedy and get bored, we all do at some point, you can have stage 4 power which is fun!!!

The trouble is, although the NA may not be fast in this market but it is still fast for the human.

In my opinion if you want a fun road car it only needs to dip be 8 seconds 0-60 to be fun. Possibly 9 and below. Cars have got more capable but roads and humans haven't.

Horses for courses, if you want something that will ram you back in your seat then no an NA won't suffice, but if you enjoy revving the engine out through gears 1, 2 and a bit of 3rd then an NA may be all you need. For some people the extra speed of a more capable car may be impressive but won't allow them to keep there foot buried for as long.

All depends what the driver is looking for. Do they want to break the speed limit? By how much? Do they mind doing 120mph in a 60mph because that's what the car will do if they drive it hard. Or do they want to drive it hard and not risk life, driving licence and possibly their freedom. Do they want it primarily track or road?

Only the buyer can decide what the best car for them it.
