Folks, Im still gathering info on options for the VX220. I was looking at SC but then saw a VXT that looks sweet. What remap options are there for it?

I know there are probably loads of variables so lets say its a standard car, exhaust etc and will be used for UK track days so noise limits need to be met. Im happy to spend a few quid more and get a 3" full exhaust but only if it will pass track noise limits.

Bedford is my nearest and i know they are strict as i managed 2 laps in a supercharged kit car before being black flagged!

Im not far from Superchips and seen they do a remap. Has anyone tried them? Ive come from sports bikes and would only ever take my race or road bikes to Dave wood racing in Buckingham as they are tried and tested by myself so would like recommendations from people who have actually had a remap from whoever you are suggesting, Any pros or cons for each firm etc

Cheers all.

Usual places for remapping VX's are Courtenay sport or MMG.

Hi,

You need to get a remap done from a VX220 specialist. (Suggestions from the previous reply are sound)

Superchips will do generic maps for the Z20LET but that isn’t well suited to the VX’s rear wheel drive orientation. Supporting mods also essential. It’s a very slippery slope...

Sixetenboots was the man, he did mine, excellent, far better than the mmg map I had done, unfortunately, I believe he's stopped doing it

Wouldn't superchps have done the r&d for the map on a VX on a rolling road? or is it just based on that specific engine whether it be front or rear wheel drive the r&d was done on?

Ive picked the VXT up so will be looking at a remap asap

Ive got an MMG map on mine. When I had it done Liam gave me loads of options, I had a few different ones to see which I liked the best. They were all quite different. I went for one that was slightly less Boosty and more driveable. Im running alot of supporting modfications on my car so its probably capapble of loads of versions. If yours is otherwise standard then I expect you dont have many options. Although the first remap is argueably the best one as it gets rid of the flat spot around 3.5K from memory. it also adds a bit more shove.

The mmg map I had was very binary, on or off, huge power peak. Steve's map is far more linear, far more drivable

Agreed with Ivor, Steve really was the man for the job, but as far as I am aware he no longer does it as a business.

I ended up using The Tuning Society (Rabbid) for mine last year. Car was on the dyno for many hours, but once done, the stage 4 set up was more drivable and controllable than the previous stage 2.

I have the Rabbid remap on mine. Just 223bhp peak but feels good to drive.

I wonder if its worth starting a dyno print out thread with the map, car specs etc and tuner. Would be a really good source of info

I believe it had a miltek exhaust on when the map was done (2.5inch?)
