Thoughts? This really appeals to me more than trackdays. Most of 'em are at North Weald so nothing to hit but cones. Looks like they're having fun trying to work out the categories for elises in differing states of tune ATM - god knows where the VX will fall. Probably with the TVRs and big boys due to being >2000cc. Although if there was enough interest - say 5 cars? - then they might be persuaded have some sort of VX class. I fancy getting into sprinting but I'm not too keen on flying around a hillclimb course in the VX in case I break it. A few airfield based sprints could be the answer though until I can afford to do a Jamie-K and buy a stripped pug 205 or similar just for sprinting. Anyone else fancy this?

Jase, Yep I fancy giving it a go, funny thing is i was talking with the guys at Scared Stiff and they do it, Reckon its a friendly bunch and a great laugh. Motorsport can get a bit arsey, but grass roots stuff like this seems great.

Jase,
Any more info or link on this? What's involved, how often, race license needed etc. I might be interested - but I'm probably too slow!! :P
Edit:
OK I've found out most of this from [HERE] - license, suit needed etc, everything that is but what you have to do - is it a lap, a quarter mile?! Looks good though thumbsup

Thought about it this year and didn't have time. Milltek are now sponsoring the BMW race series they run so might try the sprinting to have a laugh thumbsup

It's like mini-millbrook on a slightly larger scale. Twisty course, marked out with cones, about a mile-ish long.
License is thirty odd quid (not sure if it's for life or just a year, either way, no major expense) and you don't have to do anything to get the license, just fill in a form and post it off.

Race entry on the day is about £45. You usually get 2 practise runs and then 2 or 3 timed runs. They're pretty spaced out though so it ends up being a whole day thing.

I think the SELOC series is 5 or 6 races spread out from about March till September or thereabouts, although I wouldn't be battling for series points so could get away with just doing a few for fun to see how I get on.

>Plenty info here<
Also, more info in the Motorsport board on SELOC.

One thing to watch out for is the surface for the North Weald sprints. I saw a video of an Exige doing it last year - I've never seen such a rough surface, even on the road! :o

Just a reminder for anyone that might be interested in this. The first sprint is about a month away and an MSA license can take up to 3 weeks to process/arrive - so get your skates on in you fancy it. I've just put my license application form in the post today. :jump: I wanted to get a bunch of stuff done like corner weighting etc before then but I don't have the time or money - so I'll try to attend this one with my VX as it is, then try a spend a little time tweaking it nice for the next one which is a few months away. I've got no interest in winning really, just a bit if fun competitiveness...

No. NW is used as a market on Sundays (?) where screws are sold...and lost in peoples tyres, countless times.

That would be handy, cheers thumbsup I've seen a few Proban ones for about £60 - don't last that well but who cares, for a couple of fun sprint days.

Er, yeah - plenty! There's a few other threads somewhere with race writeups. There's also writeups of the last two events and some video on my site:

http://www.sprint.jasoncarvalho.com/

Currently 11th in class with one event left on 2nd October. Hoping for a top ten position in the series thumbsup
