Say if you were caught doing 115mph on a motorway, what is going to be the most likely outcome when you get to court? The person in question was caught about 5 months ago and now has a court appearance soon, so pretty much too far through the process to do anything. He also currently has no points on his licence.... I was thinking a ban of 3-6 months, maybe some points and a hefty fine..... is that about right? What was the name of the site dedicated to that sort of thing?

He'll be better off with a ban than the vast number of points they'd want to hit him with. I'm thinking a 2-4 week ban, plus £500-1000 fine, but I'm guessing. Dan

A guy at work was caught doing exactly that speed along the M3 about a year ago. The result after a court appearance was a 1 month ban and a £500 fine. I'm not sure about the points though (he didn't mention that he'd got any) since he is Danish (and driving on a danish licence) so I'm not too sure what they'd have done about them.

Friend of mine got court doing 108mph in a van. He went to court 2 mounths ago, was dead honest told them he was not late for any thing and he had no excuse for driving at that speed. The court appreciated his honesty and gave him 6 points and £300 fine. Lucky bastard :P

I got 1 month ban plus £500 fine when caught doing 120mph. Just told the judge there was no excuse for it, but it was 3am & the motorway was completely empty(apart from the copper up the slip road who caught me) so I wasn't driving completely recklessly.

You'll more than likely go to jail for a couple of years and get a fine of £5000 (ish). :o It's a shame that you're not a junkie or some Chav scally who milks the system. :9mm: I got done recently, got an NIP for speeding in 2003 (went to court September this year). They wouldn't supply the photos so I couldn't ID the driver, went to court and proved I wasn't speeding so they dropped that straight away and just did me for not IDing the driver, saying that I could have made more effort (I wrote only two letters asking for photo and received no reply) ! Result, 3pts fine and costs of £470 (plus my solicitor). Couldn't believe my ears. Not IDing the driver in an offence that never took place  Then there's this (just to add insult to injury): ................................................................................ ........................... Charlotte Church's Boyfriend was in court to recently too- Kyle Johnson, 19, was fined £200, told to pay £50 costs and disqualified for two months by Cardiff magistrates. He was convicted in his absence in August of driving without insurance and failing to produce a driving licence. Johnson, of Cardiff, who has not passed his test, was stopped behind the wheel of a car borrowed from a friend. [Source - BBC NEWS - Friday, 5 November, 2004] ................................................................................ ........................... The best bit - 'disqualified for two months' HE DOESN'T HAVE A fcukin' LICENCE - WTF !!! I now have started moving my assets abroad, I resent paying tax in a country run by war mongering morons. New Labour Tough on Crime* *Subject to terms and conditions :- Traffic offences only - legally registered, taxed and insured parties only, the magistrates decision is final. :(

Nitehawk Maybe you should have paid for a sh*t hot solicitor like me (?!) and won. My modest fees would then have been met by the court.

How long ago did this happen? That seems to me, that you got off lightly.

I keep reading how speeding has been clamped down on. I got caught doing 138mph (on the brakes aswell) in 1990 on a ZXR750 along an (almost) empty section of the M5.

Result back then - 3 months ban (loss of job, bloody good one too) & £200 fine, the fine was far too low & the length of the ban back then was the maximum for a clean licence.

I suppose that I learnt my lesson, but always regretted stopping :beat:

It's his/her first offence. They should plead that they need their licence for their job, and that at the time you were in a hurry (emergency) to get somewhere, and didn't realise the speed that you were doing. Might get a bigger fine, but no ban. Just points. Or say that you were too pissed, and couldn't focus on the speedo properly, and that you were in a hurry to pick up some skag from your dealer. Also state that by going fast, you were burning more fuel, therefore more petrol taxes were going towards the government. .... ...... i'll get me coat!

Again speaking from experience, this didn't work for me (see above) my employer came to court with me, stated that I was young & had prospects (those were the days  ), & that the company could only hold my job open for me for a month. That was a red rag to a bull, the court decided that I had to be made an example of...

...suppose I did, I made it into some of the national papers :D

the shame,the shame.
