Nitehawk

Maybe you should have paid for a sh*t hot solicitor like me (?!) and won. My modest fees would then have been met by the court.

I had a sh*t hot solicitor, the prosecution was weak as fcuk but the magistrate system is a lottery. I genuinely had no doubt in my mind that I was gonna get found not guilty, the guilty verdict was a complete shock :o

QUOTE (SSH1 @ Nov 12 2004, 09:59 )
I got 1 month ban plus £500 fine when caught doing 120mph.

Just told the judge there was no excuse for it, but it was 3am & the motorway was completely empty(apart from the copper up the slip road who caught me) so I wasn't driving completely recklessly.

How long ago did this happen? That seems to me, that you got off lightly.

I keep reading how speeding has been clamped down on. I got caught doing 138mph (on the brakes aswell) in 1990 on a ZXR750 along an (almost) empty section of the M5.

Result back then - 3 months ban (loss of job, bloody good one too) & £200 fine, the fine was far too low & the length of the ban back then was the maximum for a clean licence.

I suppose that I learnt my lesson, but always regretted stopping :beat:

2Good it was in 1998, guess I was really lucky?

On the motorways there are two main ways the poice catch speeders. 1. By observing passing motorists from bridges and slip-roads. 2. Parked waiting at the side of the road in marked or unmarked cars, around long fast bends. Being aware of just these two things, particularly the first, can drastically cut down the chances of getting caught on those very rare occasions when you can't resisit giving in to the temptation to have a short blat.
