Steve, how can you tell they aren't M1144? (£65 from Regal)

Dont know, but mine has this printed on it:
"MDB 1890
FMSI:D109
WVA:20323 144

E 90R-01018/250"

Hmm, so do mine. They also have M1109/1 which I assume is the compound.

Hi,

Mintex do a few compounds. M1144 is one of their performance compounds and comes in a blue and white package. the red and white package is the M1109 compound. Here's what Mintex say about M1109: -

Hello Steve,

This is a standard material that we use for front applications.

It is still an active material.

M1144 is a different material geared for Fast Road use, and comes into
it's own when subjected to higher operating temperatures.

Regards,

Jon Rutherford

I feeling is that what you've been buying off of Ebay is a good compound, but is not in the same class as M1144. I suspect that you're paying too much for a fairly "standard" compound. As a guage, you can buy greenstuff fronts for £24 a set at the moment. I've bought and used the rear Mintex M1109 pads off of Ebay but I wouldn't use them on the fronts myself.

Bottom line - Use the Ebay pads if your not going to push the car too hard - just don't pay too much for them! ;)

Well they are back out on eBay and I've got a bidder for £20 so I'm only slightly out of pocket so far ;) I checked the price of these pads on the web and they are £42 for this compound so at least I didn't pay more than the RRP.

Merlin motorsport tell me they can supply Mintex M1144 MDB1890's for £48.26 + VAT (£56.71). Order on 01249 782101 and place the order with a credit card. I haven't ordered yet but I thought I see if we could get a bulk order in. (Sorry Regal but your £65 looks expensive...)

Yep, I only got £20 for my 1109's on eBay :(

In fairness to the guy that sold them to me in the first place he did apologise and offer to refund me because he was told they were 1144 but I'd already got a bidder.

Oh well.

I am going to re-raise this one as I am on the hunt for new pads before the silverstone track day. What sort of life can I expect out of the Mintex M1144. I've done nearly 15K on the standard vauxhall set, will they be better or worse? I am obviously a lighter user as I am getting even wear all round, (I doesn't feel like it at times!) So would Green Stuff's all round be better?
