Hi,

Do anyone know if the alu fuel tank at Elisparts fits the VX/VXT? (HERE)

Other possible fuel tanks?

I think if i were to go the effort of a new fuel tank I'd want a larger one. Maybe Thorney can have some made up, 50L would be great thumbsup

you can get larger fuel tanks...stevevx220 has one.it holds 58 litres! i think you can get them from hangar111 and elise parts

Beware, there is an inportant safety issue regarding the removing of the charcoal filter,DO NOT REMOVE the rollover valve as Ricky done, this could be VERY dangerous in the event of a roll over because the fuel spill off from the tank generating a really serious problem.....!!! DON'T DO IT like this photo,i will post the proper setup for filter removal later.

correct way for removing safely the charcoal filter: Connect the 2 small tank breather pipe together with a Y adapter to the roll over valve, than re route the exit of the roll over valve for vent to air operation. Leave in place the canister purge valve and seal the entrance, otherwise during purge operation air can enter in the intake manifold....

IF you use the un-modified elise tank, with only two pipes exiting the tank, that is the only way you can go.... I later installed a one-way valve (only air in, no out) on the smaller diameter hose, so to let proper air flow in the tank.
in case of rollover (knock on wood!! :o ) the system is sealed.
chris went to the exytent of adding those two extra small ali pipes...in that case the yellow valve can be installed.

Ciao Ricky,if you use the standard elise tank you could change the fuel filler neck with the elise type where is attached the additional tank breather pipe to roll over valve,or better to add a breather pipe on the tank and routing to roll over valve,or another simpler way could be to make a little hole in the smaller diameter pipe near the filler neck and attach a little tube to the rolll over valve, but ALWAYS the roll over valve need to be in place, try to take a look on the elise service manual ;)
Is not recommended to use non specific valve for this use,and the roll over valve is still on place!! :P

ciao cica, ok, all those mods you write make sense, but I still don't get how my current setup (with one-way-in air valve) could lead to spills in case of rollover... Imnotworthy

Sure could not lead to spills but with your's setup with one way valve with air only in and no out the tank build up fuel vapor pressure without breathing properly, tank must be vented, and sealed only in case of roll over by the roll over valve!! Ricky for better engine fueling and for SECURITY re- install the original roll over valve for tank vent!! thumbsup thumbsup (with the adding of a small pipe attached to the smaller tube in a simil elise manner) P.S. Seal the entrance of your's purge valve or air will be sucked in the intake manif. when the ECU open it,this could cause some lean fuel ratio during opening!! ;) Setimana prox monto il quaife!!
