Milltek (Backbox only) - Increase of £66pa TMS Re-Map (Stage 1) - Increase of £593pa :o Looks like no re-map for me! Has anyone else suffered these sorts of premiums hikes for relatively minor mods? BTW I am 30, annual premium is £870 FC.

£593 :beat: sounds like you need to get a quote from another insurer. With Privilege it only cost £120.00 (base £440.00) extra to cover a stage 3 tune. But they have now charged another £72.00 for adding OZ's :(

Elephant are fine for backbox and induction kit but I had the superchip taken off my car when i bought it cos they were wanting over a tonne for it. I'm also 30 and my premium was in line with yours. ....Greenlight are much better for mods and there are other mod-friendly ones about. chinky chinky

I've only recently taken the policy out so I think I'll hold back on the re-map until renewal time, and then pick a more mod friendly insurer. thumbsup Does the milltek back-box make the car sound significantly better or do I need a full system to get a better noise? I'm not too bothered about the extra bhp a full zorst might offer, just want to make it sound a bit more B)

I've just renewed with elephant as my only other alternative was first alternative. everyone else wanted loads for a standard vxt kept in london. I'm wanting a remap but dont know what to do - not going to double my premium for it.

I'm with elephant with about 4 mths to go on policy they charged me £24 for non original exhaust and 0-10% power increase chip remap... milltek and tms stage 2 remap. So that works out at £72 for the year..

I said it would be about 20bhp so I guess this is just over 10%

Given up on the idea now, certainly until I change insurer next year :(

Having CS2 from Courtenays added 20% power & 10% to annual cost. That's with Privilege. They like oldies with a country postcode

I thought Privelege were only for older drivers who have 4 years NCB but they actually insure anyone and i found them cheaper than Directline who have always been the best for me. If they're good on mods too then surely they are the ones to go for thumbsup -Rob

Everything's detectable. For starters, they could measure the power output on a rolling road, which would be a pretty clear sign. Or they could read the ECU flash memory and compare it to a stock ECU.

It's very unlikely they'd bother though, but if you cause an accident that costs them several million or something, they might start investigating ways of getting out of it a bit more thoroughly.

Just got my insurance updated by elephant, not bad. £39 for pipercross air filter and non standard stainless exhaust for the remaining 7 months of my policy. £10 admin fee for my plate. Asked about a quote for a remap and they dont cover for them- odd as this thread clearlymeans they do. :beat: Think i'll try again another day cos a Thorney remap is most definatley on the cards!
