just heard that a bolt on turbo package has been released by dbilas....in its standard form it produces around 250bhp/250lbft...it has a very flat torque curve and a very linear power curve too..regal are fitting the very first uk one next week( and its not mine!) so i will find out how it performs...it does have tuv approval too! dbilas themselves have played with mapping it to over 280bhp/255+lbft...but all that have driven it suggests that its more driveable with the less power boost option. from what i have been told its will be about £5000 fitted but the peeps out there that already have the dbilas flowtec manifold and a sports cat will get a get a reduced price on the kit...i shall try and get down to regal and get some pics next week and also get to have a go in it too! dbilas have apparently tested it to over 300bhp but this was with better rods and pistons:) ps chris is going to email some of the power graphs from dbilas...

from the dbilas website........... dbilas dynamic - Turbo-Systems "The dbilas dynamic Turbocharger systems contain all parts which are required for the conversion. Every system that is listed in this area consists of following parts: dbilas dynamic Turbocharger, Flowtec - intake manifold and exhaust manifold from dbilas dynamic, intercooler, dbilas dynamic FlowMaster air filter system with FlowPipe, a complete inox exhaust with sport catalytic converter, intercooler pipes with hoses, oil- and coolantlines. B.A.D used his own design manifold, so he may have a SAAB one leftover.

At just over £43 per extra hp that's a pretty good deal. Are they sure the 2.2 internals are ok with 260bhp?

Its generally excepted that (done well) you can get away with 6-8 psi non-intercooled and 10psi intercooled (on the vx, this has surely to mean charge-cooled because of the limited space)... What have they done with the fueling and ignition timing, though? Without ignition timing control you are going to be in real danger of detonation and saying goodbye to the engine... Ta, Paul.

i will try and find out...i know that the dbilas software will have taken this into account...i did hear it mentioned that its running something like a max boost of .5....and that something had been done with the ignition..

Lets see.... 0.5 bar = 7.25psi, so that looks to be within the 'safe' range.

With a comp ratio of 10:1 boosted, they will have had to seriously retard the timing to avoid knock...

btw, GM recommend max of 250bhp on stock internals.

Ta, Paul.

My Saxo had a Rotrex supercharger and 205 BHP - everthing let go when the new owner had it ( & bunny hopped out of my close - knew it would'nt last)

Im with paul on this thumbsup

I would have to uprate the internals just to be on the safe side thumbsup

BTW I was told my old Williams clio could cope with 250bhp.... It couldn't and it didn't :(

Its mainly the rods that need upgrading. The pistons can cope with 300bhp, but if you've gone to the trouble of replacing the rods, might as well do pistons too.

The main thing i'd worry about here is the cooling. Vauhall had no end of problems with the VXT trying to keep it cool. An air to air isn't going to cut the mustard really, IMO (dunno what dblias are using?)

Ta, Paul.
