Yep..did find that out. Bracket plus washer (worth noting for those doing it for the first time)There is a strengthener brace that also comes loose when you undo the nut which tries to escape downwards. When you see how the lamps are attached you wonder why nobody's have ever fallen out!
All done by the way. Socket set wouldn't fit over the very long threaded stem, so had to use the adjustable spanner to get the nut a few turns off and then finish it off with the socket. Turns out there was nothing wrong with the bulb, it was a loose connection somewhere within the wiring leading to the bulb. I changed the bulb for the new one and still no luck, so was ready to give-up, nat at this point suggested and did play around with all the connections. Next thing you know it's working fine (well done nat) So all working and back to normal now. Doing-up the nut again was abit of a nightmare though, eventually i got it quite tight but seem to have aquired an extra rattle since (coming from that area) so will have to have a play at re-adjusting the locking bracket and tightening-up the nut more. Great to have it working again though.
Cleaning the vx's was a good experience too, i'v not the space to do it properly here, so normally have the valleters do a good enough job but not as good as i'd do myself (can't really expect them to for the princely sum of £3:50) but we managed to get each of ours spotless. Waxed therm too, wow oh wow is all i can say. She's never looked so shiny before, spotless and as shiny as a new button (looks the bees knees) Took a trip to halfords for tyre blackening and stocked-up on the waxes/chammies ect that nat had supplied me with to get my baby looking so good, so i'm all tooled-up now for a shiny perfect new looking vx in the future.
nat's taken some photo's of the before and after vx's next to eachother. They look very good (very good indeed) hope she posts them (darn good camera i must say) They looked so very good next to eachother and driving down the road together had the world and their granny double taking at both silver n/a's with vse's, as shinny as a shiny thing and colour coded hardtops each (cars looked good together)
Thanks for the day nat and use of all your facilities (would have been impossible to achieve here) and sorting-out the indicator bulb, have to do it again sometime (they get so dirty this time of year but now she's waxed it'll be easier next time i presume)
Safe journey yourself later and catch-up with you again sometime.
Thanks for everything.
