Thought i'd bounce this back up to the top as it's been almost two weeks without any speculation  .

Any further developments from the TMS camp?

Problems at Webcon this time with their dyno cell out of action for refurbishment (frustrating as the car is just sitting there) but revided throttle linkage is sorted so I'm pleased.

John, how are you managing throttle/pedal action? Did you remove the drive by wire system (ETB) and install a cable operated system?

I ask because I am about to install an Emerald EMS and as far as I can tell I am ok to maintain my 68mm ETB. I will do this by using the standard ECU in pre-ignition mode to drive the ETB, thats is the state the ECU is in with the ignition on + before you hit the starter button. The ETB functions as 'normal' in this mode so this should allow me to drive the 68mm ETB while running with the Emerald EMS.

I had hoped to get my hands on a standalone ETB control system. From my research there are a few systems out there but they are very expensive as they appear to be used in research and development or F1 only. Another standalone ETB control source I found are earlier BMW's and Volvos, some models had standalone ETB controls, I have my eyes open and hope to find some......

I was definately a contender for TB's but I think now due to the length of time it's taken and minimal updates I can only assume there are some serious issues that are very difficult or impossible to over come. I think for me it will have to be S/C or VXR for me next. It's a shame because i love the idea of more BHP but retaining the linear power delivery :(

I pick up the first (fully finished) TB car on Wed next week. Straight up to Oulton Park for first testing then a period of mapping and testing and then we'll release it. The kits are now in production with first due in a bout 4 weeks time. We'll then strip the car, re-build and then do a final release. It has taken time but its due to the fact that we wanted to fully fix each issue before we released it rather than do post release fixes.

Have you seen the torque curve for the SC conversion - its the *same* as the stock NA curve but higher!

Look: the green curve is the stock NA torque curve, the thick black curve is the SC conversion... thumbsup

With just the final testing left, have you got any idea how these kits will be packaged/priced?

I'm dying to hear costs and alternatives. I have just put my Speedster up for sale, but I'm seriously considering keeping it and turning it into an Exige equivalent.

Please give us some more info to feed on :drink:

TB kit price is likely to be between £2500-£2750 (incl VAT) complete. Plus fitting (which is still tbc). BHP gains will be released after testing and measurement on our dyno as all we've got thus far is results from Webcons dyno.

So there will be one kit? I thought from previous posts that there was going to be a range of them. Perhaps I just misread the posts though?

Maybe the development work since then has meant that only one option is feasable/realistic?

No, there are two basic kits, one for a standard car and one for a stage 3 car with ported heads and cams. The kits are the same price for both, the only difference is the inlet port sizes, the ECU mapping and a few other proprietary bits.

Can you give us an indication of the expected power for the std + tb vs stage 3 + tb?

lol......get your car cleaned.....looked terrible :P Webcons dyno had it measured at 215bhp running on a 85% finished map. We have the car back now for testing and to do some remedial work on the engine (which is now a little tired it seems) and to do some measurement. We'll be having the engine out running some further testing and track work and then back to webcon for final mapping. The mechanical work is all finished on the kits which are now in production and we'll be writing the installation guides using the 4 race cars as installation development so we know how long they will take to fit.

I take it this is a Stage 4 engine?

Anyway, sounds very promising. Congrats!

Let's talk about something else then bhp... About MPG! (might be to early for info about this...) I use my VX almost daily, so i'd also like a decent mpg for daily use. If i change gears below 4000 rpm should i have the same mpg as i would have with a standard VX? Or am i dreaming? Also, i am from Belgium... Do i have to go to England if i want a conversion? Or is this possible in Belgium? Cheers.
