Just Out of curiosity It would be interesting to see how the tms kits compare to the compitition. I've got a 2.2 na with diablas turbo conversion, intercooler, diablas intake manifold and stealth exhaust.

If anyone fancies a little reminiscing, this is a good one. Of course Vocky fixed the TBs in the end, SCs became more popular (due to cost), but this is an interesting insight. The SC case is made by page 4 and it all starts to go wrong around page 12-14. A good read, especially looking back without some of animosity which was going round here at the time.

When I read your other post about the 2.2 this topic came to mind funny, I held off for almost 2 years waiting for these before going stage 2 s/c

Tell you what......when we release the TB kits ( three stages) and Courtenay release the stage SC kits I'm happpy to get a magazine to do a head to head with all the cars and come up with a conclusion - good idea?

I'm sure Courtenay would be up for it and it would be a laugh thumbsup

Did this magazine article ever get published?

and in 2006 someone said this:

The NA results really are bad tho...

particularly the Stage 2+ ones...

So I'm guessing my Stage 2+ is similar to those at 150@fly and that is not exactly a great gain for £1800!!!

Oh there are plenty of great quotes you can take from this thread. Some of the later ones are classics. :) I decided not to go there.

wow, how things change

Webcon are a great company and we (the guys at webcon and myself) spent many months sorting out the niggles of the Webcon throttle bodies kit

They are now a plug and play kit, the original ecu is not required or used any longer, the rev counter, engine temperature gauge, etc all work direct from the Webcon Alpha ECU.
I had Webcon alter the kit to supply a 4+1 trigger wheel as standard (and I have modified most of the original installed kits to use the 4+1 trigger wheel), this makes the engine start the same as when the z22se ecu was used (before it took way too long cranking the engine before it fired up).

A few things are worth mentioning, to get past 200bhp you really need to skim the head by 1mm or fit High Compression pistons to raise the CR to 11:1
Stage one cams will give approx 205-210bhp, stage two cams approx 220-225bhp and stage three cams 240-250bhp. Mine peaked at between 247-251bhp using stage three cams and 11.5:1 CR. I had the rpm restricted to 7900 from the peak of 8100.

Webcon's aftersales service is 110%, they really do care about you and their products, I cannot thank them enough Imnotworthy

My car was Stage 2 + when I bought it and I could not believe the cost over relative gain to that of a SC conversion.

£1800 for about =10bhp

£3k for = +100bhp

Importance of marketing I read? Damn right and sales technique to boot.

if you like the sound of soupacharged and worried about the money ..it is fine  ......
the pleasure of the itb's all the way to 7800 rpm is much more rewarding than having a cup of soup
and the car on track feel good as well

What are their sales of 20XE kits like? I know they used to sell a fair few but the sensible people weren't interested with the stupid costs and locked down calibration options.

Ford Zetec / Duratec is probably their biggest seller

So which is better, the SC or the ITB? Interesting reading the ITB claims and comparisons now the SC is a proven bolt on 250BHP on standard Z22SE internals.
