Use a medium grit paper to sand down to plastic, finishing with a highish grit to make it a nice finish [1200]. It will be evened off when you apply the
plastic primer. Remembering to leave dry and rub with 1500 grit wet and dry in between layers of primer.
I would have thought that the silver would be a satin finish.
A lot of layers of paint and a few layers of lacquer will see the stone chips off. The key factor for any paint job is the prep work...... The better it is the longer will last
Make sure you apply alot of
very thin layers of paint - rather than a few thick ones
Although like any car you will get some.
You can try applying some protective film to protect it from stone chips - but I wouldn't bother.
