thanks for the reply :) :P just one last question...is it actually silver paint that VXL use or is it a satin chrome finish? although im pretty sure i want it back to its original state - if i did decide to go black B) what preventative measures could i take in order to keep it black and not get stone chipped to death, destroying my (dads :P ) hard work? another thing...i am a complete spaz at all this so im just going to say it...if its plastic underneath and im sanding down, wont this damage the plastic? i suppose its the same with prepping the car for a respray...does damage not occur? cheers tom (me breath doesnt smell honest :D  )-

Use a medium grit paper to sand down to plastic, finishing with a highish grit to make it a nice finish [1200]. It will be evened off when you apply the plastic primer. Remembering to leave dry and rub with 1500 grit wet and dry in between layers of primer.

I would have thought that the silver would be a satin finish.

A lot of layers of paint and a few layers of lacquer will see the stone chips off. The key factor for any paint job is the prep work...... The better it is the longer will last ;)

Make sure you apply alot of very thin layers of paint - rather than a few thick ones ;)

Although like any car you will get some.

You can try applying some protective film to protect it from stone chips - but I wouldn't bother.
