Ive just bought some almost brand new S2 Exige LSS for the VX! Ive done the maths and I dont see why not! The VX's rear subframe is different to the Elise as it has higher mounted rear suspension mounts - this is also how the 111R and S2 Exige differs from the Elise. I got someone who has an S2 Exige to get me measurements of the suspension when off the car. The S2 Exige damper fully extended with spring in place is 10mm shorter than my lowered Bilstien/Eibach setup. The S2 Exige dampers are shorter than my VX's [by about 30-40mm] but that just means that they wont hit the bump stops. The spring rates will almost be the same due to the VX and Exige being almost exactly the same weight! I will have to wait until the weekend to find out if they actually do fit desirably. Once fitted I estimate the VX being over 20mm lower. [No-one has tried this hence me being anxious!!!] Wish me luck! PS. If it works I'll have my current lowered setup for sale! ;) Chris

Just to put the suspension setups into comparison:- VX NA:- Front 42 N/mm = 42 x 5.588 = 234.69 lbs/in Rear 48 N/mm = 48 x 5.588 = 268.22 lbs/in S2 Exige LSS:- Front 48 N/mm = 48 x 5.588 = 268.22 lbs/in Rear 65 N/mm = 65 x 5.588 = 363.22 lbs/in So a marked improvement over std without going as hard as Nitrons

No, but when something seems simple, it usually never is  :)

Forgive my ignorance :) but what is the hoped for advantage over your current set up? I know with motorbikes especially on the road stiffer is not always better. I have the same set up as you and found it to be a good improvemnt on the road, I will be trying it on track in next few weeks for a more rounded opinion.

Hang on a minuite! Arnie - do you have S2 Exige suspension on your VX/Speedster??? If so post some photo's !!!!! Also what is your opinion of them at the moment?? - All the 111R owners try and get some S2 Exige suspension as an upgrade to their current suspension when getting sticky rubber/track use. My desire is to have a stiffer setup without having to go as hard as Nitrons/Ohlins. PS. I have had confirmation from Plans that the 111R/S2 Exige have the same rear subframe as the VX.

I think Arnie meant he has Bilstien/Eibach setup (soon to be your old set-up). Good luck with it all. If you go ahead and fit that exige spoiler then you will have the first hybrid VX Exige!!!! B) :groupjump:

Reading it back I think your right :P

After doing a bit of research it looks like I will be able to play with the ride height as I have 3 sets of springs all giving different ride heights:- [I can still benifit from the much stiffer Exige dampers if I take the springs off]

[Elise owners use the std VX springs to drop the ride height at the front]

Exige Springs
Std VX Springs
Lowered 30mm VX springs

Should be an interesting day!

Now all I need are some spring compressors and circlips pliers!

You will have the first hybrid VX Exige!

Am I right in thinking the the standard VXR220 has the Exige suspension AND the exige rear subframe?

We all have the S2 Exige rear subframe.

The VXR will have a different suspension setup the the S2 Exige due the increased weight. The VX NA is the exact same weight as the S2 Exige.

You equate harder spring rates with 'improvement.' That is rather a gross simplification. My concern would be the significant difference in 'balance' between the two systems. The VX rears are approx 15% stiifer than the fronts. The Exige rears are 30% stiffer. This will alter the handling balance of the car, a stiffer rear will be more loose.

Correct - Im going to see how it handles when fitted - but its then going into Horizon for the Geo reworked [only just had one done :P :D ]

Right!

Fitted them today - the springs are much firmer and look far better quality over my std ones.

They fitted on no probs :D

MY VX is currently -30mm lower than std. The new Exige suspension put it back up by 15/20mm. So unfortunately I swapped to my previous suspension.

When fitted the suspension was noticeably more firmer - so roll on right apexes will be eliminated ;)

So I have a full set of almost brand new S2 Exige Suspension for sale! If you fit it to your NA the ride height will prob stay the same maybe a few mm lower.

But if you Fit it to your tubby then I would expect a drop in ride height due to the extra kerb weight.

The setup on them are

47.5 N/mm Front
65 N/mm Rear

If I was not such poser I would keep them on in a second B)

Here's some pics:-

But Lotus LSS shocks are height ajustable the shocks you are showing are not. these are just standard shocks.

Yes - Although I couldnt Edit my original post after I posted it :beat: When speaking to the chap who I bought them off I 'assumed that they were LSS' but found out they were not - but worked out if they could fit - and yes they did. BTW - LSS doesnt lower the car that much - not enough travel on the runner. S2 Exige LSS costs £300 per corner - Im selling my full kit for £300 which is almost brand new ;) B) BTW - They are not 'just std shockers' they have uprated valves and springs .........
