Aaron, post a pic of the damage - quite often possible to repair rather than replace. If not you'll just have to bite the bullet and go through your insurance :( whereabouts are you? (BTW, I assume you're Mark's cousin who he took to pick the car up at the weekend ;) )

I think from that pic there's more than just clam damage :( The exhaust looks like it been forced in, which could mean theres sub-frame damage. You need to get it looked at pronto by someone with vx experience :( Claim on your own insurance? (or is that going to be a problem??)

plans motorsport have an excellent repairer who sorted mine after something very similar. Maybe give them a call? Alternatively look fibreglass repair places, the technology has come along to get fibreglass repaired and even fill holes - you can't see where the damage was on mine. I assume the rest of the rear (exhaust system, rear crash zone etc) is ok?

Dude, that sucks. Commiserations. Were there any cctv cameras in the area? It might be worth reporting it to police - not stopping after an acciedent, however minor, is way illlegal. They might check relevant cctv footage to see if they can get a reg plate? Worth a try. Get that cnut. Kali.

Have to agree here - looks like a pretty big shunt rather than a little tap, and who knows what's damaged underneath

Bite the bullet and get it done properly on your insurance

Report it to the police asap; might be needed if you do end up with an insurance claim.
