well i have decided to test these tyres on the standard rims! i have been waiting for some new wheels from torra but they have not been delivered yet.... alan meaker from toyo has asked me to test them so that they have some responce re fitting to a narrow rim......and more importantly what i think of the tyres themselves! i shall post some piccies tonight after they have been fitted and also try and give some idea on how different it will make the car! i personally will be going the route of having Ao48s on the vx over the winter in preparation for next year!

mind you, o48's are absolute sh*te in all but bone-dry conditions....just a hint of drizzle or morning dew and every corner becomes a potential write-off.... :o otoh, find a dry track and they truly shine, G-forcing your neck away... B)

I had my first two incidents with the toyos today. I've only got the rears btw. First incident I was sitting at some traffic lights with a focus RS up me arse (ooooer ;) ). Right I thought! I'm gonna pull away hard here. The exit from the roundabout has a nice long left hand bend which the vx takes very well, but this time I pushed it all the way. Going round it harder than I ever had done before, I heard a horrible scraping noise coming from my rear right wheel arch. Looking at the car afterwards, it looks like I might have caught the black plastic surround on the back of the wheel arch? Could these tyres cause abnormal loads on the suspension that the vx wasn't designed for? Also the toyos don't seem as happy as the bridgestones in the wet. Coming out of a roundabout after the gym tonight the backend of my car starts to go wide and suddenly the car is pointing towards the kerb. A bit of opposite steer and I had it under control but deffinitely a new change of pants was required after that. Still I love em though :D

May be a stupid question: How are the Yokohama A048 compared to the Yokohama AVS tyres??

avs are good all-rounder, 048 are dry-only, very track-biased tyres.... need warm-up!

Ricky, how much mileage can you get out of a A048? I guess the AVS are similar to the Brigestone Potenzas, which last approx. 20000 km (when I am at the wheel) rally
