VGA 1920x1080 IS 1080p. I learnt all this shizzle over at www.avforums.com where there is a 200 page thread on the W, and another MASSIVE thread on the settings for it!! lol

After looking at a few other forums it seems that I won't be able to view in 1080p untill a hdmi cable is released (I assume their isn't one out yet?).

A few different makes of tv (obviously ones that are able to produce 1080p) are apparently affected by this.

Cocopops you have the same screen as me, I assume you are running in 1080i?

Lol me too late. :beat: :beat:

Did you not find that VGA 1920x1080 is washed out. Or can I adjust the tv setting to bring it back.

Will pop over to AVForums and check it out, but like you said they do get lots of posts  :D

360 over component on the 40W2000 is 1080i 360 over VGA (Set to 1920x1080 in settings) is 1080p, even tho it doesn't say. When you set it up, there is a message appears on sceen saying it's an unsupported resolution, but you just adjust the volume and the message disappears.

Strange that it gives a cloudy washed out image, yours look like that? Yep got that unsupported thing as well, didn't change volume, although I had no audible sound coming through.

I played around with settings and I'm happy with it now :) Also.... DVDs played through the 360/VGA combo are upscaled to 1080p by the xbox then as well :) We watch "Over the Hedge" and it was fantastic!! (Film was actually quite good too!).

B) I thought that we'd have to wait for the new hddvd add on to be released for that. Iassume upscaling is good but not as good as the real thing?

Yeah, HDDVD is obviously better. But the upscaling allows the output to be mapped pixel by pixel, so improving the picture etc.
