What killed it? It sounded like you had a really good setup - saab strong internals etc...

The new thing is that our raceclass has got unlimited wheelwidth.
I ordered 8 new 8x17" Superleggera and a set with 2 x 8x18 and 2 x 9x18".

Tiresize will be altered depending on track, but 215/45-17 and 255/40-17 or
225/40-18 and 265/35-18 is two options.

Lol....that'll look like its on a rollers thumbsup :D

It was probably a faulty hydralic tappet that didn´t build up the pressure.
So when we hit 6000rpm on the rr, the rollerrocker left the building through the back of the cylinderhead.

Really not that big damages, but it was the the drop so to speak.

I welded the hole in the head last week and the rebuilding started thumbsup

hope to get on the rr in january.

OT...Went down to Dudes garage yesterday, it is really a sight for sore eyes! Melderts VX coming back to life efter a spin and crash, parts of the race Speedster, piles of VX bodyparts, piles of old slick tyres from previous adventures, old race parts and engines, new parts in boxes 2 "new" ECOTEC engines starting to take form (one of which is mine :) )

2.2 Clipping_Point are changing the following: ported head other cams Eagle Rods ARP Head Studs Underdrive Pulley Dual Valve Springs Ti Retainers Valve Spring Seats Valve seals Adjustable cam gears the latest engine in Dudes race car have similar mods and he has also removed the balance shafts and changed to an electric waterpump edit: Oh, btw... Yes I have crashed my Speedster too... :beat: But i did it on track so don't blame me for driving reckless on public roads. No chassi damage but a lot of damage to front and rear clam, suspension arms front and rear on right side etc. Almost everything is now fixed and now most of the work goes into modifications... B) I Have a lot of pics in a thread on a swedish site... Maybe I post some of them here too...

Made an effort to Map the racecar today and it ended like the last time, But twice as bad :( 2 hydraulic tappets broke, but no damage to the head this time. I start to believe that i´ve been hustled bigtime with these camshafts. After some brainstorming with 2 friends, We came to the conclusion that the rampangle on the shafts is too steep and causes the damage to the tappets. It only happens on the exhaust side. I will put in the std for now and see if the cams can be regrinded with less angle on the ramps.

:( Sorry to hear that dude... I hope you get it sorted for the season. Who supplied the cams and were they described as being suitable for the head you are using? Good luck! thumbsup PS - out of morbid curiosity, do you have any photos of the damage caused to the head last time, I'd also love to see the repair you carried out.

Nope!
Ferrea springs and the damage was probably done on idle when we started the first time.

We didn´t even notice that they were gone, But the engine wasn´t putting out any power at all and we did pulls up to 8000rpm :D

We saw the rockers laying by the valves when we were going to change the camtiming to see if it helped :o

My trackrecord on the rr isn´t going to be broken :beat: For the 5:th time i have broken the engine. This time it is either the crank(std) that has broken or (if i´m lucky) only the main or rod-bearings. I think we have found the point of destruction regarding how high it can be revved. At 8157rpm the crank/bearings left the building :D

Bump, just found this thread when searching for "undertray" and read alot of it. Makes for amazing reading so thought it might be nice for others to read that haven't seen it. You will probably need to open it in IE instead of Firefox though :)
