I think I've managed to put together a wheel package for the VX. It's just a case of confirming fitment on the car, then it's good to go. The only thing is the wheels have a bit of a resemblance to the standard N/A wheels. Would people still be interested? They are 7x16" front with 195/50/16 tyres, and 7.5x17" rear with 225/45/17 tyres. The wheels are top quality, straight from Italy, and will also be very good value for money. I'm just interested in a bit of feedback on this for now please. Pete

How can we honestly state our level of interest if there is not even a ball park figure? I might be interested but I am also interested in the Thorney's option too. Hope that helps!

Easy tiger.....

I didn't want to post too much information until I had confirmed fitments. I should pick up my VXT within the next week, and will bolt a set of these on it straight away.

As for figures - you mean weight or price?

Price will be very good, wheels on their own should be less than £500, and we'll be able to offer good value wheel and tyre packages also.

Weight - not sure about this, but I can find out on Monday. They won't be much lighter than the standard wheels, but this package was more about allowing the fitment of 195 tyres on the front, than weight saving.

We will have more wheel options in a few months, which will be lightweight, but these aren't available at present.

Pete

P.S. Has Thorney reached the level of coolness where he's now "the Thorney"? I bet he'd have never thought that possible with the floppy hair of his....

I like em. Depending on price and weight, will probably be interested. I like the idea of an option for fitting A048Rs on 16s at the front for track use, but retaining regular road tyres for day to day use so the hub change isn't really an option... Paul

It's a classy wheel, definitely. Pricing will be very good, I'm sure of that, weight I will confirm here on Monday. The only problem with the A048R is that due to Lotus' anti-competitive attitude, they have an exclusive deal with Yokohama on the 195/50/16 and 225/45/17 sizes. Luckily I know the owners of our local Lotus dealership, so I'm trying to work out a deal with these.

Kind of....

It's manufactured by them, but not branded as M.M.

We're looking at getting them specially supplied in VX-friendly fitments, so we're still undecided about what brand to market them as.

We will have more wheel options in a few months, which will be lightweight, but these aren't available at present.

If we're going to change, then preferably for lighter ones while we're at it.

As Thorney has drawn a blank for lightweight rims for the standard 5 bolt fitting, I am very interested to see what you can offer.

Any new rim should also allow enough space for brake/disk upgrades.

Should also look at least "OK" not naff, and preferably be available in anthracite or black for those of us who prefer driving to cleaning – unless any brake/disk upgrade produces a lot less brake dust than standard. I know green stuff does, but would like more than just new pads.

Look forward to info on the lightweight option as soon as you've got it. :)

I think the other set of rims we've got planned might be up your street then Speedy. Lightweight and strong 17" front, 18" rear Huge caliper clearance Great styling Available in silver, black, white and bronze. What more can you want? Watch this space, should have details confirmed within a month.
