This 260bhp Turbo (on slicks) was trailered to Dijon – about 10 hours.

But is it worth doubling your journey time for the kick of slicks? Didn't seem to be that impressive. In the clip you can see that I am at the limit on the A048s in places, but...

Slicks put huge amounts of stress on standard parts, i hope he's uprated his bushes and joints :P

BTW those are the best wheels i've ever seen on a VX

Nice vid :D I guess it answered the question fairly well. I guess the 911's were on slicks as well?

What kind of brakes do you have on the Exige? I am considering different brake options for Hockenheim.

It looks like the vx was on standard suspension ? is that the case ? if so slicks are a waste (so are 048 or 888 in fact) and as other said, the stress on triangles and mounts is huge, I mean even with 048's a lot of failures are being seen... but if properly set up it should give the porsche cups are run for theyr money...

are you having a laugh? i cant see the normal gap at the top of the tyre that you could normally fit a small childs head through....

awesome 30-degrees weather, but still piston rings leaking...apparently JE pistons are not a good fit for ecotec... :( Hitec is currently working it out... going back to stock pistons, (good up to 250hp anyway) but keeping forged rods and all other goodies...

You have a point...however on the second go round in the first turn after the paddock, a small child could I think put his head in...although he would have to be running fast :) no, to me it looked lowered but not especially rigid, as for times a 250 hp vxt turbo (better driven than I can drive) on olhins and 048 can do it in around 1.31, would have though slicks should give you a couple of secs faster.

After finding out how many horses he had coaxed from it, the toelinks were my first question. All standard

Btw, those are Mille Miglia wheels – posted about them when I saw this car at Hock a year or two ago. Not sure if the details are still on here...

Hi Ricky

Yeah, I'm still not happy about the Green Hell

This was my second time at Dijon. The complex twisty bits took a bit of learning! Very complicated combinations and falling and rising and camber falling away and bumps and crests

Strange place. That straight uphill section after the Parabolique and the long uphill section on the main straight mean that the 500bhp+ monsters annihilate you! :D Yet, on the twisties, a well driven Elise S1 can hold its own quite well against most things.

Most of all, I think it's truly fantastic to have driven at the scene of the epic Arnoux vs. Imnotworthy Villeneuve 1979 battle. Tried to re-enact it myself  with a racing M5 and a 911:

>They do NOT want to be passed!<

The Gallic (dis)organisation there is absolutely appalling though. They seem to find the concept that people who come to a trackday might use some fuel and want to refill almost baffling. One unmanned fuel pump that you have to hunt for the person responsible, say how much fuel you want and pay in advance (very practical in our cars!!!) and then they never have any change and then often the pump doesn't work – and, to crown it all, they shut for two hours from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Perverse! And do they care if you complain? Do they fcuk!

Love the track, hate the employees! :D

Caught your post at the other place thumbsup

Keith, been looking through your vids and have decided you should have some sort of electrical current linked from the limiter to your nuts it might be incentive enough  Poor car but great vids Imnotworthy

'Fraid not – if you look closely – that's an Exige S – rear wing, side scoops, etc. all body coloured.

some sort of electrical current linked from the limiter to your nuts

 So it's the car's nuts you're worried about? Don't be – they can always be replaced! :D

I'm not worried about taking it to the limiter on the upchanges, but it's on the downchanges where I do rather tend to use engine braking to a large extent that there is a risk that it might end up end up flying around my ears – trying to discipline myself without electrodes strategically attached, but I might have to consider that yet thumbsup

I found the stock setup on the N/A was fine, within its limits. When I put Pagid RS4s on with the stock N/A discs, it cooked the discs first time at Hockenheim. Cooling ducts would be my first move on a Speedster.

On the Exige I have bigger, grooved and crossdrilled Tarox discs and bigger area Mintex 2500 pads in the stock callipers, along with cooling ducts.

They are excellent. (The 4-pot APs are not road-legal here in Switz.).

Because the Swiss authorities are very awkward and don't accept any European tuning without checking it themselves. That costs eye-watering amounts and somethings are simply not accepted. Tuners tend to only pay for this if they think they will sell enough. On top of this, each region has its own approval centres. That Speedster Turbo, complete with splitter, wing, etc. (but on road tyres), is still road-registered. That would never get through in my region. On my Speedster, I couldn't even get the 16" fronts that Ferguson, in yet another region, has managed to get approved. Very frustrating. But I solved that in an unconventional way! :D

Wow, did you know that Porsche was going to dive down the inside near the end of the video there? Some UK trackday rules are pedantic, but i'd go mental if someone did that to me. Of course that is hypothetical as i am never passed... :P
